Meet Sara | Luxury Bridal Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
This is something that has always been a thought for me. My father had his own business so I was around that environment growing up, he instilled in us why having your own business is beneficial.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing I am very proud of is that I am a diverse make up artist. I am confident that I am able to do the fairest of skin tones down to the deepest skintones. I started doing make up on myself. Then friends and family started to ask me to do their make up for special events. so naturally I started to charge for my services. I started at a low rate which allowed me to have many clients it challenged me but I learned a lot. Eventually I got hired at one of the most influential make up counters out there. That took my artistry to the next level. I had to learn to do make up on everyone and I mean everyone. Our counter had a very diverse clientele. I had to learn through disappointments how to get better. I learned that I just want to make people happy. I am there on some of the most important days of people’s lives and they trusted me with their faces.. I would like everyone to know that when it comes to any artistry your work is never done. You’re never finished, you never learned all there is to know. Art is always growing you never stop learning. Remain humble, your skills will grow with that mentality.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would like to show them the mix of things there is to do here. One of the fanciest restaurants with the best street tacos. Maybe take them to one of the many late or morning shows that have audiences to a beautiful campsite. We would be in San Diego, LA, big Bear, Joshua tree, Palm Springs etc!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, and husband. Dad-showed me the basic fundamentals of business
Mom- encouraged my creativity my whole life. She bought me all the supplies I needed for any project I had in mind
Husband- supported me financially and helped me greatly on the business aspect of makeup artistry
