We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisa Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elisa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

After leaving my corporate job, I was a jewelry sales rep and I enjoyed helping clients style their jewelry with different outfits. I also had friends, and friends of friends, who were going through divorce and needed help putting together outfits that were business professional. I started helping women put two weeks worth of outfits together and showing them how to coordinate what they already had in their closet. After years of doing it for free, to help friends out, my best friend encouraged me to turn it into a business. So I took a leap of faith and started at the end of 2018.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

What sets me apart, as a Wardrobe Stylist, is I have been there. I have been every size from a 10 to an 18+ and back again. I have also worked in corporate, been a stay at home mom, and an entrepreneur. My clients say, I am approachable and no nonsense. I am not about trends and want my clients to have every day pieces in their closet that they love. When I work with clients, they go from feeling frumpy to fabulous and they replace outdated outfits with timeless pieces that can be easily coordinated to wear for any occasion. Women want to look pulled together but struggle to find clothes that look stylish, feel amazing, and reflect their personal style so I work with them to find clothes that express their style, no matter their size or age.

I have to say that I am proud of my consistency over the last several years. There were days when doing videos and/or posting on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube was time consuming and days when blogging was a challenge, but after sticking with it for four plus years I can see the “fruits of my labor” so to speak. People know, like, and trust me and it’s because I was consistent and showed up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I recently moved to a new city in a new state so I would take them to all my favorite local places. We would start with coffee at my local UpInspired or Eggsquisite Cafe, then we would drive to Southlake to shop, take a break at Chop Shop in Plano and finish the day with dinner at a local Italian restaurant called Gallo Nero.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I have to give a shoutout and dedication to a couple of women. My first shout out is to my best friend Maribel Tubbs who encouraged me for years to start my business as a stylist. I also have to give a shout out to my friend Toni Caruso, who invited me to eWomen Network, befriended me, and encouraged and supported me when I moved to the Los Angeles area and knew no one. Both women believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and gave me that extra push I needed.
