We had the good fortune of connecting with Narineh Sety and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Narineh, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I think of the word “RISK” automatically I think about having to make a leap into something unknown. Risk has played a huge factor in my career because I had to dedicate my time and effort into something that I knew nothing about. I went into the lash industry not even knowing what they were and I had never seen a set of lashes prior to the scheduled class. Risking it in my own personal life, I had to make sure that there was a balance between working and spending time with my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got into lash extensions out of the blue. I didn’t really think I can achieve a business or even a name for myself with this line of work. It definitely was NOT easy starting off since the time that I started lash extensions, there was competition starting as well around the area that I service. I tried my best to gather clients by hosting giveaways and monthly specials so I can at least gain the clients trust and attention. I didn’t give up. I saw this as a challenge and I pushed myself to thrive more each and every day. I learned to not give up. I learned that it’s not going to be an easy ride and to NEVER compare your work with another artist’s work. I want people to know that what I do for a living really brings joy to me. I love meeting new clients and I love when they are able to trust ME with their lashes. I just want them to know that I value the health of their lashes and would never do any harm, especially the nightmare stories they may hear about eyelash extensions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was in town – first I would make sure she arrives really early so we have the whole day to go explore! First on the list would be to have breakfast & there’s nothing better than having breakfast at Urth Cafe in Pasadena! Then, I would take her to my house, have her relax a little, then I would take her to Rodeo Drive and show her all of the shops and the cute places LA has to offer. We would also stop for coffee at Alfred’s Coffee on Melrose and continue exploring the city. Since my best friend and I are relaxed individuals, we wouldn’t be doing anything crazy; mainly just explore the city and call it a day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be quite honest, it’s my husband that deserves the recognition because he never gave up on me and my dreams. He kept pushing me in the beginning of it all, during those times that I would want to quit and not look back, but he kept telling me that I can do this and that it will get better. He bought me supplies when I was just starting out and never gave up on me when I wanted to concur my dreams.
