We had the good fortune of connecting with Yates Holley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yates, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to start my own business, but I never really had a specific idea or plan. I’ve always been creative and have worked in computer graphics for most of my life. My career has always been primarily freelance. Moving from project to project. It wasnt until recently I started Rideview with my business partner, John Kim that things really started to get momentum..

Rideview is a company that creates visuals for cars. This includes helping manufacturers and agencies with product launches, experiences, refreshes, configurators, strategy, and storytelling. The company is made up of people who love cars and making films. John and I love cars, so it was a no brainer. Since then we have done work for Kia, Toyota, Porsche, Ferrari in addition to servicing tv, film and advertising clients outside of automotive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I wanted to be able to express myself in my own unique way and to share my creativity with the world. I also wanted to be able to make a living doing something that I loved.

It has not necessarily been easy but to me, success is achieving your goals and reaching your full potential. It’s about setting your sights high and then doing everything you can to make your dreams come true. It’s about being the best you can be, and always striving to be better.

I guess some lessons I learned along the way are to take risks. I believe that taking risks is essential in life and career in order to achieve success. Risk taking can bring joy because it can lead to new and exciting experiences. Throughout my career I have made many professional and personal projects.  I worked on video games (Where Cards Fall), feature films (Underworld Awakening) and have launched several cellphones through Apple.

Coming up next for us is the launch of a car life style company called Aftermarket (www.aftermarkt.world)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think Los Angeles really has a lot to offer. If you asked me this question a few years ago I think my answer would be very different but I would say get yourself on AllTrails and take advantage of all of the outdoors LA has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my buisness partner John Kim whos hardwork and dedication drives not just everything we do creatively at Rideview, but helps to influence the industry overall. Without him Rideview would not be what it is today.
