We had the good fortune of connecting with Sada K. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sada K., is there something you believe many others might not?
One myth that I disagree with is that I needed to stop pursuing my dreams and goals when I became a mother. I have thoroughly enjoyed bringing my boys along for the ride in my latest opportunities. Having them as my greatest inspiration has fueled an even greater fire in me to continue to dream big and work hard to reach my goals. I’m not letting up. I’m putting my foot on the gas! And hope to inspire others along the way!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The foundation of all I do has been my music. My music set the tone for the brand I’m building today. My music has always been created with the listener in mind. I’ve always said, “If I’m going to sing, I want it to mean something”. I never just wanted to sing because I could, I’ve always wanted to sing to touch people’s souls. When music hits you on a deep level, the music instantly becomes a part of people’s journey. I’ve always wanted my songs to become a part of people’s soundtracks for their journey, providing light to help guide their paths with positive energy and compassion.
Having this mindset has made my journey as a recording artist challenging at times, but I’ve never wavered from my life’s work. I’ve always stayed true to myself and have kept a high standard of integrity. People have challenged me on every level to see if I will waver, but I’m thankful to say I have stayed on MY journey, created my own lane, and have the greatest success of all: PEACE while pursuing my purpose.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned along my journey is to be present and open to the unexpected doors that may open along your journey. When you’re constantly putting good energy into the atmosphere, good things can happen. And I’ve learned this first hand. I’ve had the opportunities to not only create great music and work with amazing producers and co-writers, but I’ve been able to host shows, model, partner with global brands, create a blog, build a youtube channel, and so much more!
It’s truly amazing to be able to read through comments and messages and see how so many people have been inspired by the content I create, the opportunities I’ve had, and the hard work I’ve put in all these years to experience the things I have.
People are watching, and I’m thankful and humbled that they are able to be inspired by my journey. I’ve always said if I can make a difference in one person’s life, it’s all worth it.
Wanting to create inspiring music has evolved into creating an inspiring brand and I’m thankful for growth and support each and every day.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite hidden gems in LA is Descanso Gardens. It’s SO beautiful and one of my favorite places to recenter, recharge and just be. Another place that I absolutely love is Lake Hollywood, a lot of people don’t know about this spot but it’s so stunning and such a great place to take a peaceful walk, exercise, or just take cool pics with the Hollywood sign in a peaceful, beautiful place. It’s featured in my latest music video “You”.
I’m a big supporter of small businesses and one of my absolute fav restaurants is Honey Bird (https://www.honeybirdla.com/) in La Canada. Whenever I need some good comfort food, this is my SPOT! I also love YogaUrt in Glendale, it’s soft-serve plant-based ice cream and SO yummy!
I also love a good Farmer’s Market! I love the Montrose one on Sundays, they have great food, great vendors, and even a petting zoo for kids (pre-pandemic, not sure how it is now)
Other places that I adore to eat depending on my mood is Mama Hong’s Vietnamese Kitchen in Downtown Burbank, Home Restaurant in Los Feliz, and Castaway in Burbank.
I’m all about nature so most of these places have beautiful views and vibes. One last hidden gem I absolutely love is the hike to Amirs Garden in Griffith Park. I tend to stay away from the trendy hikes but this one is so beautiful and the garden at the top of the hike is AMAZING! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My little family deserves a lot of credit for my success. My husband, Kenny Jackson, has always been in my corner. We came out to LA with big dreams, worked hard, waited to have children, and now that they are here, they fit right into the party we call our life! We’ve been able to book big gigs, as a family, this year including a Nike Campaign and being featured on Red Table Talk recently and I’m thankful that they are down to roll with me with all of my ideas and visions. They inspire me every day to never give up, keep pushing and build a strong legacy!
