Meet Avery Wagner | Magic Maker & Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Avery Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Avery, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
So, if I look back it really is wild how all roads have (kind of) led me straight here. Let me bore everyone with a far too long story about…well…me real quick…I graduated from college in 2015 with a (completely useless) degree in Communications. Like what even is that degree, idk? But while I was in college, it would be safe to say that I was pretty obsessed with social media. I was always the b*tch with the most updated facebook photo albums (remember when those were a thing??) and I adopted Instagram (and snapchat –RIP lol) very early when they came on the scene. I was actually the “Web Master” (ha- what a title) for my Sorority…which at the time, meant updating an extremely lame tumblr page and occasionally editing a wordpress site…but I did help start our chapter’s IG account WAY back in 2011, which was pretty ground breaking tbh. Post grad I jumped around from job to job all within the interior design industry and was dabbling in social for each company I worked for…picking up moonlighting gigs here and there in social media for friends & small businesses.
At the beginning of 2019 I started working for an Interior Designer out of Huntington Beach and was originally hired on in an assistant/project manager capacity. That role VERY quickly transitioned into full time Social Media Manager when the person who was previously filling the SMM role left without giving a two weeks notice. Growing and running multiple accounts for my then boss became my entire life and I loved it so much I knew I wanted to work with more people–and Wagner Perspective was born. Helping small business owners was the reason I started my business. Knowing there was a high demand for the service I could provide made it an easy decision to launch this company. At Wagner Perspective, we claim “Damn Good Digital Development” is our thing with Social Media Management, High Level Consulting and Training, and Content Creation as our bread and butter (and jam!). I LOVE that I am able to help people with this type of work. Some might say it’s superficial help…but help none the less and that’s the best part.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We here at Wagner Perspective help small business owners develop a stronger social media presence by optimizing social media platforms–implementing best practices tips and tricks, analytics, and market research. Educating small business owners not only to help them feel comfortable interacting with their social media platforms, but to understand the importance of the optimization of the platforms all together. We are a no bullsh*t, no sugar coating, extremely blunt and straight forward brand. If we see something wrong with your social presence, we tell you. We have no issue when it comes to telling it like it is and we think that sets us apart from the rest.
Starting this business was honestly….relatively easy 🤷🏽♀️. Not to say that we haven’t worked really really hard, but everything has flowed to us without many roadblocks and clients are banging down the doors for services…so no complaints.
Lessons learned–guard your time with your life and if you have a gut feeling that a client is going to be difficult from the beginning–they probably are. So either pass on the work, or up your prices. LOL.
We want the world to know that we are just getting started….Wagner Perspective is going to go in a LOT of different directions in the near future…so just freaking wait, people. Just wait….

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
( I think this question is about my city–and not LA, but let me know if I need to re-work my answer)
So I have this thing I am kind of known for…it’s #TucsonIsCool.
I lowkey am like a mini Tucson Ambassador and tell people ALL the time, where to eat, where to ship, where to drink…the list goes on. Tucson gets a bad wrap (know to my college friends as ‘The Dirty T’) and I have made it a small mission of mine to make sure that the light is shown on the cool sh*t that is going on in Tucson.
Here’s my Tucson day tour breakdown:
Start the morning out with an early morning stroll around Barrio Viejo –the oldest most historic neighborhood in Tucson. It’s homes had stood the test of time, many of the homes occupying the space for more than 100 years. SO much history and SO much charm.
Breakfast at The Cornet–the go-to coffee spot for those in Barrio Viejo –cutest, most chic little outdoor patio awaits you and the food is *chefs kiss*
The shopping in Tucson is BONKERS–if you are into antiquing like me. Like if you are down to dig around for extremely cool furniture and decor pieces (like I always am!) you are going to want to hit the following places:
Midtown Mercantile
Antiques ETC
Speedway Antique Mall
The Lost Barrio
BON
Dinner is a no brainer–at the one, the only, Mi Neditos. The wait will be AT LEAST 1.5 hours. But when I tell you it’s the most worth it thing you will ever encounter in your life, it is and I am not lying.
After dinner drinks at Owl Club–this bar finds it’s home inside an old mortuary and the vibes it sends are extremely high. 100/10 would recommend to a friend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
KELLY EDMONSON!!!!!!!!!! If I could shout that name from every single rooftop, at the top of my lungs, for the rest of my life, I would do it.
I quite literally would NOT be where I am without Kelly. We came into each other’s lives at the exact right time and she has been the most wonderful mentor, leader, creative director, all around perfect person and I am beyond lucky (that isn’t even the right word to describe what I am!) to have her in my life.
Caitlin Keltch & Kelli Kehler (AKA The Coven)
These two were the ones who gave me the confidence to launch my company and have helped me with everything from copywriting to back end website development to accounting needs. THANK GOD for these two.
Garrett & Jonathan Brewer Sweet and Sara (Glitter) Bacon
No shot I would be where I am without these 3 people. Personally and professionally, I couldn’t live without them. End of story.
