We had the good fortune of connecting with Abraham Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abraham, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Very good question! The reason I chose to peruse an artistic or creative career is because I love to tell stories about experiences and moments in life through film, music, and writing. These art forms have always been the best way for me to express myself and to tell about the experiences of people from all different walks of life. I enjoy telling about the decisions I have made and the things I have learned in my own life so that other people can learn from these experiences while also being entertained. I love using funny moments to put a smile on peoples faces through difficult times and I believe that I can tell stories in different and unique ways than what is typically done in Hollywood.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a filmmaker, director, writer, and editor who has worked on many projects over the years. Some of my most notable films are “The Breakup” and “The Fallens” and I am also the creator of a series called “Pathways” which will be available for streaming on multiple networks very soon. The series follows a group of high schoolers and is based off of real life experiences and people from my life. I have also collaborated with Mathew Knowles of Music World Entertainment on a Covid-19 PSA to spread awareness of safety precautions for the virus.

A big thing that sets me apart from others is my ability to wear many different hats while on set and my dedication and drive to complete a project and to get things done. It is normal for me to take on the role of writer, producer, director, and cinematographer in most of my projects and I usually help with editing and some other roles as well. My unique film style also sets me apart. I really enjoy character development and make it a point to include a satisfying amount of this in my projects which really helps the audience to relate and gravitate toward the characters and stories I create.

I am most proud of my 10 episode series “Pathways” which is nearly completed and preparing for release. This is something I have been working on for a long time and am very excited to share with the world! Shortly after the release of the series we will begin production for season 2 and I am anticipating the show to run for a minimum of 7 seasons.

I got started in college when I had to create a mock production company as a class assignment, but instead I chose to make a real company. I had a dream and a goal to have my own production company and to come up with many projects so I worked hard at it to grow my company and to make it happen. It definitely was not easy! I overcame many obstacles by being persistent, consistent, and never giving up, and by finding the right team and cast. I went through many different people before I found the right ones and it was frustrating at times, but I kept pushing through and persevered. Along the way, I learned that this industry is very tough and that you have to keep on moving forward no matter what it takes and never give up.

I want people to know that my company and I make intriguing films with stories that are relatable to people’s day to day lives and I want people to learn from the lessons and experiences I have written into my scripts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friends on the studio tours around LA so they could see the different sets and get a taste of what it is like working in film. I would also take them to Griffith Observatory to see the views of Los Angeles and we would eat at Chi Chis Pizza. They have really good Italian food and all you can eat pasta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my Godmother Eleanor Earl CEO of E.L. Earl Entertainment and my father. My Godmother and father has always supported me through my journey through this career path I have chosen in life. They both have encouraged me through rough times when I felt like giving up, they both have given me advice and mentorship through difficult decisions and cheered me on through my journey.
