Meet Heather Kelly | Professional Dancer & CEO of Los Angeles Cowgirl

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is I have always been authentically myself. Before I had a “brand,” I was naturally creating one without even knowing it. In real life, I am very girly, pink, bubbly, fun, creative, love dance and fashion- which is exactly what I portray online. As an artist, I am very passionate, love creating, and seeing my visions come to life. Whenever I have a new idea, I like to execute it right away. I love creating dance concept videos, styling for shoots, and getting all glamed up! Staying active and creative, led me into my next venture of starting “Los Angeles Cowgirl.” Originally, I had no intentions of starting a business. I rhinestoned a cowboy hat to use for a video shoot, and then ended up gifting it to a friend for her bachelorette party. The feedback from the hat in Nashville was INSANE and my friends convinced me to start selling them… and now I’m here! I truly believe Los Angeles Cowgirl became so successful so fast because it happened so naturally. By being the pink, sparkly, and glam girl I already am, I easily built an audience of people just like me! When you do what you love and stay true to yourself, things come easy and you will be overflowing with success and abundance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been dancing since the age of three, started dancing competitively at age 6, went on to get my BFA in Dance Performance at Chapman University, and then moved to LA to start my professional dance career. So after training my whole life, I was so excited and ready to get started! I went to every audition my agents sent me, trained consistently, and was doing everything I needed to do to “make it” in this industry. However, it still took me a long time to find success. One of my favorite quotes is, “If you truly want something, the amount of time it takes to get there doesn’t matter.” If I am being completely honest, my first 2-3 years in La was very rough but I am SO HAPPY I stuck with it and didn’t give up. Starting in 2021, I began booking the biggest jobs of my career and it felt absolutely incredible. Success tastes so much sweeter when you’ve worked so hard to get there! I definitely changed my mindset in 2021 and just started doing more of my own projects that made me happy, and with that, I believe I attracted my dream jobs. Then from there, I ended up starting my own business! Los Angeles Cowgirl allows me to express my other creative side in fashion and styling. I love dance but most of the time, it’s never really about the dancer, it’s about the artist or the product you’re selling. I love being the boss and also made myself the face of Los Angeles Cowgirl because I love being the main character.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend Sydney was actually just in town this week and I took her to all my favorite shopping and food spots! My favorite places to shop are the boutiques on Abbot Kinney street in Venice, the Westfield Century City Mall, Rodeo Dr, and the boutiques on Melrose. I love Mexican food and Sushi, so I took her to Javiers in Century City and Wabi in Venice. My other favorite restaurants are Santolina, the Butcher The Baker the Cappuccino maker, and Koi.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I’m at without my parents unconditional love and support!
