Meet lyndon laveaux | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with lyndon laveaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi lyndon, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think for me it’s me leading a life in general with an open heart. In spite of the noise that can come from the outside and definitely within, but I trust myself, I trust my instincts, my learning curve with becoming an MC was long, I’ve had close family tell me to quit music cause they couldn’t see the vision, thank god I didn’t listen, but boy was it difficult. You gotta trust yourself more than anybody else, and keep in mind, the ego is loud but spirit whispers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of my favorite things to hear as an MC is that I don’t sound like anybody else, cause I grew up on that as an MC you want to stand out, also I don’t mind being vulnerable in my music, my second album which drops on my birthday will be an open letter. I studied everybody, I would listen to MCs, rockstars, pop stars, studying their cadence, sound, all in the midst of finding my own voice. It wasn’t easy in the least, insecurity culped with being neurodivergent can come with its ebb and flow, putting out a TERRIBLE mixtape in 2013 and having people I admire tell me that it wasn’t it was hard but it made me focus up and ask the question, am I doing music for clout or do I love, it obviously was the latter, thank god it was because when you love something or someone you tend to put effort, I put effort in getting great at the craft of rap, I’ve made strides, I never rest on my laurels because I know you can always be better, I strive for that everytime I enter the booth, my biggest lesson was learning to trust myself, the outside can be chaotic but you have to have a level of unshakeable faith in yourself, no one is gonna believe in you more than you do, sure there will be pockets where in the moment it feels like someone else believes in you more but if you don’t apply that faith in yourself, all of that believing in you will be for naught. I want folks to see what dedication can get you, I’m over 14 years spitting, and I’m just now feeling confident in the craft, you could put me on a record with anyone and I can hold my own. Looking forward to sharing more of the work. Thank you to my day 1s who been supporting just know this just the warm up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Grammy museum, Oscar museum, I stand on the shoulders of giants so I’m always down to give those respected individuals their flowers. Get them a street taco or two, Huntington Library, they have Shakespeare first folio. The beaches are dope for aesthetic but that water is cold af, I dig Universal and six flags, The Federal, The Viper Room.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are soooo many people I could thank, one of my closest friends who’s like my brother Dooley Sheen was one of my harshest critiques but he did it to bring the best out me, he encouraged me to rap when I was intimidated to. Every member of Swaggfia my music collective, from Disanti, Ray Mitchell, Rocki So Crazi, The Track Burnaz, Young Tez, Nathan Bankston, Phil McNair, Cuzz Zaid they all in their own ways have pushed to be my best self, as a recording artist you can not do it by yourself, and it’s ludicrous to think you can do it alone ludicrous. My mentor Tim Brown who was just an amazing guide. Of course my mother who taught me what strength, and hustle, I get my best qualities from her.
