We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Cline and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As an independent pop artist I am constantly thinking about what I am going to do next. Whether it’s releasing a new single, shooting new content, networking at shows or live events, connecting with songwriters for cowrites, launching my merch clothing line, email outreach to book shows, connect with other artists looking for openers, etc. It can be a very busy, challenging, and exhausting lifestyle… yet I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Finding a work life balance is something I am still working on. I have learned that what keeps me a float is surrounding myself with good friends and a good living environment. I think it is super important to feel comfortable in my day to day life so that I can continue to feel positive, passionate, and driven to be a creative in the music industry. I also make sure to exercise everyday, even if it means getting up earlier to get some kind of workout in because I know how beneficial it is to my mental health. The music industry is a unique lifestyle and in order to keep up the energy it takes to pursue it, I will always make sure to put my mental health first!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well my favorite spots in LA would for sure consist of lots of music venues and good food! I think my all time favorite spot so far I have experienced food wise is Beauty and Essex located in Hollywood. It was a recommendation by my mom who visited and a friend of hers suggested it. I highly recommend the grilled cheese bites. I would also suggest Ivy At The Shore located in Santa Monica. I took my grandparents here spontaneously and I absolutely loved the atmosphere, food, and customer service. I also love the rooftop at Mama’s Shelter. Sometimes they have live comedy shows but the atmosphere is really vibey for a sunday afternoon hangout spot. As far as good live music spots go, I recommend The Mint to see all different kinds of musicians performing nightly, but always check the website to make sure, I would also recommend Adult’s Only which is a fun spot for live music, and lastly, Molly Malone’s. I have actually performed at all three of these spots and highly recommend each one if you are a musician looking for a spot to perform. If you love day drinking/ bar hopping I have just recently been spending lots of time on Main Street in Santa Monica and love the moscow mule at Jameson’s Pub and then you can just walk to the beach!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, dad, & sister. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by a very supportive family who always showed up to see the play I was in, a talent show, an open mic, etc! They knew from the start how much music meant to me and even put up with me singing Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs” at the top of my lungs through my mic and amp on high volume until like 11 pm on a school night. I think they always knew I was going to eventually want to move to Nashville to pursue a music career and when the time did come it was super hard to move away from home. I moved to Nashville at age 19 to begin this path and quickly became very homesick. I am very thankful that every time I called one of them they would always pick up and listen to me talk about my day or a story, because at the end of the day I really did miss them a lot. I now live in LA where I continue to pursue my music career and have made some really solid ground over the last year. Being away from home hasn’t gotten easier but I think I have gotten more used to it. My mom, dad, and sister are always excited to share and talk about my music to their friends, always come to see me perform live in different cities, and are always a phone call away and for that I am forever thankful!
