Meet Eva Oskarsdottir | Actress, Director & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Oskarsdottir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eva, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“The student can’t wait to become a master. The master knows she/he will always stay a student.”
For so long I thought I wasn’t good or smart enough and had to be perfect before I dared starting any business of my own. This way of thinking kept me small and stopped me from going for my dream. My favorite quote reminds me that it is never about perfection and that gives me strength to keep on going on the days when my self-doubting voice is too loud.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I see art as a powerful way to give others respect, support, motivation, amusement and often a much needed wake up call. My latest projects have been more about how beautiful diversity is and that together we are stronger. I also think that educating ourselves and our children about other cultures is immensely important as my latest project, which I’m really proud of, “A Roma Family Through European History” that I directed, for the House of European History in Brussels, shows. It was an honor supporting my fellow actress Simonida Selimovic in telling the world her and her families story.
I’m still finding my way in the film industry and it hasn’t always been easy for me staying on track. Many times I have questioned my dream of wanting to become an actress and mostly because of my own self judgment and fear of not being good enough. When I have those moments, and yes I still do, I meditate or listen to an Abraham Hicks recording on YouTube or eat something delicious while watching a good film like Arrival or sometimes a good cry is just necessary to be able to let go and see clearly again.
The inner and outer struggles have taught me that patience and stamina are essential to be able to carry on and that it is very important to ask for help whenever you need it.
Let’s embrace diversity and make films that encourage positive change.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in Vienna is Schönbrunn Palace park, zoo and cafe (Gloriette). One can firmly “feel” the history there. Albertina Museum and St. Stephen’s Cathedral are also a sight to see. To be honest the whole first district in Vienna is a sight to see. I recommend taking a long walk there. Well I love walking but I promise you you won’t regret it. 🙂 And if you were visiting me, I would also take you on a walk in nature and show you “The Seven Oaks” in Lower Austria. These seven oaks are really old and have a powerful energy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first one that comes up in my mind is the amazing Evelyne Werzowa (Tollmann Sisters Production). https://www.imdb.
