We had the good fortune of connecting with Lovesbond Sterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lovesbond, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well…. it wasn’t supposed to be a business. The arts have a special place in my heart- it’s got something to do with the human condition. about understanding and expressing our humanity. it makes us unique- and we get to do that in different mediums. Photography for me was just the beginning of my “artist” journey. Over the years I’ve begun paring it with different subjects- my favorite being fashion, abstract, and architecture. Being somewhat good at it- the opportunity to turn it into a business became a no-brainer. I hope to see how far I can take it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art (photography) is driven by my storytelling. Every editorial or concept is largely based on a personality- and attitude. Of course, you have background elements such as location and clothing- the general mise-en-scene that aids the overall picture. And while those change- my characters are consistent. I would describe them as dark, broody, and decadent. They always maintain a sense of occasion and that attitude I mentioned, it’s always on their face. It’s calm, restrained, and powerful, it exudes this tasteful sex appeal- and I really like that.

The journey has been quite the process. I never imagined I’d be good at what I was doing relatively quickly and I had no conscious direction of where I wanted the art to go. So it’s definitely difficult to find the “voice” and follow it all the way to distinction.

I want the world to see my perspective- to watch, read and listen to my stories. Time will tell, so let’s hope I don’t disappoint.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Best time ever? Brunch with bottomless mimosas, followed by trips to several galleries, shopping on the side with a late lunch. Of course, you have to take an extensive nap before heading out for round two of nightlife.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A huge shout-out would be to my mother – She got me my first camera as an investment and a challenge to see if i was really serious about photography & film.

College Professor Wayne Vollweiler – Formidable, cool, brilliant- a master of his craft. One of few people whose talents, intelligence, and knowledge I admire.

Jacki Jolly – My Muse and greatest inspiration for my fashion works. Her ability to get into character with an outfit or artistic concept is second to none. I’ll be the first to say it- she belongs in Hollywood.

Tai Harte- Jersey’s strongest man- I call him that. He’s my best friend and I love him like a brother. My story wouldn’t be my story without his companionship through some of the most difficult and dark days in my life. He holds me accountable and I have the utmost respect for him.
