We had the good fortune of connecting with Farah Saint-Jean and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Farah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to design and plan weddings after planning my own wedding. It was such an exhilarating and rewarding experience for me that I didn’t want it to end. I am very organized and detailed and love all things beautiful! Carine is a social butterfly, everyone loves her, and she has great style. It was a no brainer . I asked my sister Carine to join me on this journey as “Spectacular Affairs” and we’ve never looked back since.
Having independence and freedom to set up our own work schedule around our lives has also been something that Carine and I wanted for the longest and owning our own business, doing what we love makes that a reality.
What should our readers know about your business?

Through the years we’ve learned that we can’t do everything and therefore focus doing only what we like most and do best.
Hence, we’ve learned to turn down work that doesn’t align with our goals. This is such an empowering position to be in.
We’ve also learned to trust our instincts. Whenever we didn’t in the past, we lived to regret it.
Within the last decade, Spectacular Affairs has become synonymous throughout New York and the Greater Washington D. C. area for our exquisite taste, flair for fun, and the ability to execute your once-in-a-lifetime event flawlessly.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am in Maryland so everyone who comes from other cities always want to go to the capital. I will definitely stay in a wonderful DC boutique hotel for the week to facilitate touring the capital.. We love to try different cultures foods so we’ll dine at different local restaurants in the area daily.
On the first day I will take my best friend to: the US Capitol and Capitol Hill. On second day Martin Luther King , Jr. Memorial. On the third day the Lincoln Memorial. Lastly on fourth day the White House. Fifth day will be spa day and relaxation. We’ll get pretty and go out to a fancy dinner that evening.
On the 6th and final day (weekend) I will take her to hang out with my friends in Maryland over foods and drinks.
There are is much to see in the D.C. area and neighboring cities, too many to mention. . After all is said and done I love to chill with friends and family in our home just eating, laughing, dancing and sharing stories..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people that I must thank for my success as a business owner. My business partner Carine is amazing and I could not be successful without her. I’m also thankful to her husband Horace for always being supportive through our entire existence. He is the best cheerleader! I am thankful to our Spectacular Affairs team members Katiana, Angela and Margarett. We have the best team in our industry! Last but not least, I am thankful to my dad who always believed in me and taught me amazing work ethics and self confidence.
