We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When starting this business, I was thinking about how I could make the process of creating and selling merchandise as easy as possible. Creating designs, having inventory, and fulfilling orders are among the things that our athletes no longer have to worry about . Their focus can be solely on marketing and pushing their brand out to their supporters and fans. InfluenceTee was birthed because of the rapid changes in college sports and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules. I have always had a love for the clothing industry, sports, and graphic design. This was the perfect opportunity to be able to connect all three of them into one business. NIL was a new space that had no roadmap, which really excited me. I was able to make my own path and build something from the bottom up. Also, being a current college athlete has made working with other college athletes even better, as I can relate with them on a personal level. And I can make sure their merchandise goes from just a sketch on a piece of paper to a physical product.

What should our readers know about your business?
At InfluenceTee, we pride ourselves on making sure that the athlete is involved in all aspects of the process as well as making sure that they have free rein when it comes to the creative process. Other companies have cookie-cutter designs that don’t allow the athletes to express themselves in the manner that they may want to. We strive to make sure the athlete knows that we are here to work with and for them. As far as getting where I am today, it took some trial and error, there were some paths that I did not quite have a passion for. However, they were all stepping stones to help me get where I am today. Although I am ecstatic about the growth of my business over the past year, I believe we have the opportunity to take even bigger leaps in the upcoming months. Getting to where we are today has not been the simplest process, but when you have the right team around you, it makes it easier to make strides towards success.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say that my family plays a huge part in my success as an entrepreneur. They have been by my side during all of my business endeavors throughout the years. Running any business can be very mentally and physically draining, especially when you are not seeing the results that you are expecting. Having people in our corner that keep you encouraged in those times is essential. The fact that you know that the people around you trust in your vision and see the potential in what you are doing is such a motivator to wake up every day and get to work. With that being said, I would like to take time to thank my parents, David & Natasha, and my sister, Taylor, for their never-ending support.
