We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Guminski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what matters most to you?
Honesty. Without it, there is no personal relationship. There is no potential for a business relationship. There is no chance for growth. Honesty allows people to trust one another. They feel safe being themselves, and speaking their mind. Honesty allows for the open and respectful exchange of ideas, for receiving constructive criticism, for strength/weakness analysis, and ultimately for plan creation.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve learned that the best investment you can make is in yourself. I also learned that every successful person at one point in their lives walked up to the ledge, looked over it, and jumped. Lastly, I learned that there are no short cuts. You have to believe in yourself, trust the people around you, and embrace the journey. So that’s what I did when I started PRO ZONE. A conversation with my parents confirmed my belief in myself. I found the best people to work with and we dove in feet first. It wasn’t easy, the life of an entrepreneur. There were many somber moments, lost sleep, doubt, and trial by error. But with the lessons I learned, I knew we would make it as an agency. And I’m grateful to have weathered the storm.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pittsburgh is a charming city, full of history, art, sports, and food. We’d probably take the short trip on the incline up to Mount Washington for the most breathtaking view of the city. Then, head downtown to the Warhol Museum, followed by a Steelers or Pirates game. Just not during the winter months.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents deserve all the credit for my success. They taught me to have conviction in my action and faith in my heart. If I ever started down the wrong path, they would intervene and steer my ship straight. They included me in all family decisions that may have been above my understanding of life at the time. They challenged me to remain humble and find a career that I love. And with persistence, kindness and luck, I did.
