We had the good fortune of connecting with Skylar Sorkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skylar, what is the most important factor behind your success?

Going for it. Deciding that you want something and going for it regardless of the “perfect timing,” regardless of “failing,” and regardless of facing the judgment of others (the list goes on). However, going after your dreams because YOU want to, and why not?

I’ve been successful because instead of thinking about what I want, I take action. Whether that’s approaching my next guest speaker, playing with colors on Canva for my next podcast post, asking difficult questions on live recordings, or sharing vulnerable stories with my following: my success stems from choosing growth. Since the very beginning of this journey, I’ve consistently chosen vulnerability, authenticity, and ME. What I’ve created is an authentic platform with real resources. The “why” to REGARDLESS is that I was craving honest and reliable resources to help me navigate my twenties.

Regardless is a world where you can be YOU, where you can unapologetically go after your dreams regardless of failure, success, tears, wins, weight gain, loss, you name it. That’s why I’ve been successful because I’ve been real, regardless is real.

Regardless is your friend; she’s approachable, honest, supportive, and human, and it’s my life in real-time. My followers are coming along with me for the ride because just like me, they also crave resources to grow and are committed to their future selves. If my guest speakers can do it, if I can do it, so can they.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I’ve created a brand that is 200% unapologetically Skylar, and that’s what sets me apart. I wanted to build Regardless because I NEEDED IT. I was craving this all-knowing / fountain of knowledge platform that was somewhat relatable, funky, and fun for me to rely on when I needed support through challenging times. Unfortunately, college didn’t equip us with the proper tools, classes, or wisdom to understand how to “adult” or navigate life after university (i.e. relationships, trauma, budgeting, boyfriends, girlfriends, eating disorders, etc, etc.!!)

What sets me and my podcast apart is that I am also learning alongside my followers, throughout every episode. Together, we are all students. I purposely did not want to set myself up as this “all-knowing” influencer life coach. That’s dishonest, I’m 24, LOL! It’s important for me to always stay curious, strive toward growth, and be ready to fail, get back up, and take on new spiritual assignments – episode by episode.

Regardless is built for twenty-somethings+ who can unapologetically take on this life together. As one, we can fail, win, question, challenge, and grow as a community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Omg LA! SO much to do, so sexy, so fun. My love language is food, wine, company, energy, restaurants, music, and the ocean. So the itinerary would really reflect my love languages. SO this best friend would be in for a treat. I would dedicate time to hang out in West LA – Venice & Santa Monica. Perhaps hit up Gran Blanco for pre-dinner drinks and then gracefully make our way to Gjelina, Elephante, or Dudley Market for a 4-hour dinner full of soul conversations. I would also ensure that I bring my bestie to each of the Soho house locations for dinner and drinks, or even attend a fun event at one of the houses, like a psychic reading, vinyl session, or magic show. You can’t do LA without exploring Topanga for the day – my favorite breakfast/lunch spot is Topanga Living Cafe ending in an ocean swim. Lastly, I would leave room for a day trip to Malibu for a lovely beach walk, journal session, and beach hang out. Say LESS!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

My shoutout goes to Mom & Dad. I am incredibly grateful and humbled to have parents who undoubtedly believe in me and my dreams. My parents are the FIRST to know about every episode topic, the first to listen, and always share my episodes with their close friends and clients, haha. In my opinion, Mom & Dad have 100% fueled the wisdom behind regardless due to how they raised me. My wisdom, resilience, and understanding of life – my perspective on adversity, relationships, work, dreams, growth, food, or culture; I have my parents to thank.

I ALWAYS feel supported and loved by them regardless of what I’m pursuing or facing. It’s so energizing to know that whichever move I make in life, I have a family that supports me (of course this comes with challenging yet healthy conversations & feedback, haha).

I believe in my dreams (which is the most important) but sometimes I feel like my parents believe in my dreams and me even more than I do. So this shoutout goes out to you Mama and Papa… I love you both tremendously. Thank you for giving life to me, and in that case, to REGARDLESS. I can’t wait to pass my wisdom and 10+ seasons down to my future children.
