We had the good fortune of connecting with George Solonos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi George, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Well, from a very young age, I devoted my life to the service of music so I can say that my secret desire has always been for the music works to stand the test of time in order to help heal and elevate, in the same way that it helped me through the years while experiencing and creating it. Overall, I think it would make me a happy soul to leave this place a little more beautiful than the way I found it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My role in music has always been versatile. I enjoy exploring and keeping things interesting so have always variated between composing and producing to live shows, studio work and film music. At the end of the day, I find that all these elements feed off each other and overall, create a better understanding of music altogether. This also applies when working with many different music genres. In the words of Louis Armstrong: “There are only two kinds of music, the good, and the bad”.

Now, I am very excited to announce that a new personal album is in the making, again implementing the same philosophy.

The only way to create something worthwhile is by actually enjoying the process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a serious nature freak, I’d definitely go for trips around Malibu lagoon, hang out with the sea lions at point Dume, go whale watching at Newport Beach, visit Lake Shrine etc.

Also hiking at Los Leones and Temescal Canyon is the best.

Paradise Cove is my favorite restaurant in LA, probably because it resembles the Mediterranean vibe which I grew up in.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have always been blessed with a very supportive circle of friends, family and co-workers. I feel that this is a very crucial element for creators to have. In my view, when a work is made it is usually consciously or unconsciously addressed to a specific person. If you manage to communicate the message or story clearly to that one person then it can certainly speak to many. Perhaps this is the equivalent to a muse as the ancient Greeks would say. Also, nature has always been a huge teacher for me and I could talk for hours about its intertwining relationship with music and every other art form.
