We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha Grace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysha, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. Ever since I can remember myself I had an intense curiosity to discover art along side with a big need to perform. To create anything from nothing by using my imagination.
I started performing from a very early age. I think at first, it was just something I used to do to spend my time because I felt like I had to- whilst attempting to understand and/or express my emotions.
As I grew older, I started to become interested in the concept of “human nature” and the times in which people decide to either hide away from it, embrace it, or wonder about what it really means to feel a certain way and the reason behind it. Doubting and believing in ourselves all at once – wondering about what our purpose is and what we want.

I soon came to realize that part of the job of an artist is to constantly discover aspects of human nature throughout the process of creative work. I think that is one of the main reasons I chose, or better said, I needed to be an artist- is because this process is endless, which always fascinated me deeply.
As an actress, songwriter and performer you have to dig deep within yourself to find what drives you, what excites you, what your fears are… And then take those things and put them into your work which, in the moment happens unconsciously.
I always thought that truthful work can only be produced when approached from a place of risk and not from a place of certainty/safety- which I think also applies to life generally.

At age nineteen I moved to New York to study acting and pursue a performing arts career in the States. I think attending acting school was one of the most important experiences I have had in my life.
I was lucky enough to work with teachers who pushed me to my limits which later on made me realize that the things I practiced and learned in acting school were important tools that I could later use to produce truthful work not only as an actress but also as a singer and performer.
Being able to make people feel intensely, reminisce, remember and forget altogether by giving life to a script, writing a song and creating the visuals for it – communicating ideas through art and dedicating your time to it is something truly beautiful to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing I am truly excited about is to start releasing music. I have a project that I have been working on for a while now, that came together and is scheduled to be released throughout 2023. These are songs I wrote while I was still living in New York during and after quarantine, that I been wanting to put out in to the world- alongside with their visual aspect which is a very important part in my storytelling 🙂

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have lived in LA for less than six months, so there is endless places I haven’t discovered yet. However, there are certain places I fell in love with during this time. If I had a friend visiting I would dedicate at least three days to spend time by the beach. Manhattan beach, Laguna and Venice are my favorites so far. There is so much to do and especially in Laguna the scenery is exceptionally beautiful.

I love the skate park in Venice too and the cinematic atmosphere around Manhattan beach.
For a night out I think I would either go dancing or take them to grab “in n’ out” and then drive up to the hills so we can sit/ eat and talk in a place with great views. I think one of the things that make LA special is that there are so many hidden spots. So I think I would take the car and explore those places a little more.
Maybe go to the swimming pool at Soho house downtown to spend time in the sunlight while having something to eat or drink.

Also, I recently went to the Los Feliz theater. Classic vintage cinema with great aesthetic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my mother who has always believed in my abilities and has always supported my creative aspirations. Also, my partner, -Stavros- who is an extraordinary musician and producer and an exceptionally inspirational human.
My friends in Greece and my friends in America- who have been by my side through the good and the bad.
Last but not least, my acting teacher, Zenon Kruszelnicki with whom I studied with at the Academy of Dramatic Arts a few years back in New York. He really gave me the opportunity to continuously challenge myself creatively- which helped me to better understand myself and gave me the chance to start discovering ways with which I could start utilizing my full potential as an artist.
