Meet Dr. Elizabeth Jennings | Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Coach, Multiple Best Selling Author, Speaker, Consultant, & Radio Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Elizabeth Jennings and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Elizabeth, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important thing that has contributed to my success as an occupational therapist, best-selling author, mental health speaker, coach, and consultant is my ability to show up as my authentic self in all I do. My work centers around honesty, which includes living and operating with integrity. I also teach others how to tap into the power of their authenticity by guiding them through a systematic process. Starting from a place of knowing and healing myself first and then sharing that process openly has been key to supporting others on their mental health and well-being journey. Coaching others on how to tap into their authenticity creates a ripple effect. After utilizing and implementing the recommended resources, tools, and strategies, clients discover their voice, identity, and life purpose. This then opens the door for them to experience true freedom, breakthrough, and success by manifesting the desired things in their own life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally speaking, I am an occupational therapist, best-selling author, thought innovator, and change agent. I am certified and serve as a mindfulness and mental health coach, master intuitive grief coach, executive, organizational development, and international corporate coach and development and growth speaker. I also operate as a radio host and podcaster for Living Bold (Beyond Your Limited Dreams) and My Life Matters (a radio broadcast centered around family, community, mental and physical health and well-being, and mentorship). I am an entrepreneur and the CEO of Remember You Matter, providing specialty coaching, consulting, and mentoring to veterans, youth, and adults. I have also founded a nonprofit called Boys Matter 2 Men, providing mentorship services to boys ages 8-18 in our local Central Texas community.
I feel what sets me apart from others is my unique background and experience of combining the field of occupational therapy, coaching, consulting, and mental health in various community settings. As a mental health advocate and coach, I have written eleven self-published books on several topics: loss, dealing with grief, spiritual transformation, anxiety, mental health, forgiveness, empowerment, transitioning through life, and overcoming obstacles to achieving both personal and professional success. Through my work as a mindfulness and mental health coach, mentor, and consultant, I help individuals overcome obstacles and discover their identity, purpose, balance, joy, and true fulfillment in life. I have turned many of my books or workbooks into online courses, classes, or workshops to help individuals fully solidify the messages communicated through my writing. Also, to gain further practical insights into experiencing healing and freedom in their life.
Using my effective 4-step growth process, I coach and equip youth and adults to break free from fears of the unknown, insecurities, limiting beliefs, and self-doubt to create a solid plan to make lasting life changes. My professional work stems and has been birthed from life challenges and personal life experiences: dealing with losing my parents, ending a marriage by filing for divorce after 17 years, restarting life as a single parent with two children, going through my own healing process, and doing the necessary work to heal myself first. I then use my experiences as lessons to authentically share and support people’s healing, growth, development, and success by creating and writing books, programs, courses, classes, and speaking.
I have learned along my life journey that as long as you have breath in you, it is never too late to pursue the dreams you want to manifest into reality. Through my Remember You Matter brand, I want people to know that hope is possible if they remember that they matter and that their life matters.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had someone close to me visiting me locally in Nolanville Texas, then I would take them to both Austin Texas and San Antonio Texas. These are two places that remind me of my hometown Atlanta Georgia. Austin Texas has a lot of culture and musical vibe to enjoy. We would first explore the strip on the 6th street district and enjoy shows, scenic views, great food, shopping on the strip, and then have some fun listening to jazz music, catching a live concert, comedy show, or dancing during later hours. One of my favorite restaurants on 6th street is Fogo De Chao, which is also located in Atlanta Georgia.
San Antonio would be another stop to make. It has a similar vibe as Austin and Atlanta but with a different culture of people and population. One of my favorite spots in San Antonio is the Riverwalk which has shops, great food, and entertainment along the river to enjoy. Sea World and the San Antonio Zoo are also great spots to hit during this trip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to shout out to my parents, who laid the foundation for the character I have developed. My character to serve and support the mental health and well-being of others is what has led to me being a service-driven individual. My parents are no longer living on this earth, but they left a legacy through the life they lived, which I now carry on and share with my children. I would also like to give a shoutout to my children, two teenagers who are my pride and joy. They are a priority in my life and motivate and inspire me daily to keep going and never give up on my dreams or myself. In addition, several people in my community have had a hand in my most recent personal and professional growth and development. I would like to thank my Pastors, Sr Pastor Dr. Lincoln Coffie, Pastor Apryl Barnes Coffie, Dr. Rodney Duckett, Nicola Myers Gardere, and Lewis McDonald, for opening doors, sharing resources and being a sounding board of support for me to lean on.
During my initial journey of stepping out to launch and start my business, Remember You Matter (named after my mother), I read two books that pushed me to act on what was placed in my heart. The first book was Jump by Steve Harvey, which teaches how to deal with the feelings of doubt, fear, and insecurity that stop us from taking action. The second book was SOAR by T.D. Jakes, which talks about the process and steps required to build a solid business from the ground up. These books prepared me mentally and helped to develop a plan of action to move forward on the desires placed in my heart.
