We had the good fortune of connecting with RENA MAEDA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RENA, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before I started my own business, I was working for a multiple bridal companies. I always thought that I could’ve given a better customer services to make bride even happier and satisfied.
Now, I’ve been through the wedding on my own, also having children.
So I understand more than before, how hard the wedding planning is. Some clients has to plan with their baby, I can give better advice and better timeline how we should do or prepare for their big day.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first moved to US, there was big difference ” beauty standard” In Japan, women likes more young, fresh, cute and natural makeup.
But here women likes more sexy, more mature look ( in the good way)
Face feature, skin colors are more vary here.
It was definitely big adjustment required for me to be able to provide great makeup/ hair for all type of ethnicities.

Now, BRIGHT CRYSTAL WEDDING has all kind of ethnicities artists and half of them are mom.
We want to be able to make satisfy all brides.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of my friends live in Japan and most of them are mother. I want to show how beautiful nature in the US.
I love renting a big house Big bear, Palm Springs or somewhere very nature.
Having a wine, getting into the jacuzzi.
I want to have relax, fun and cozy time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor, she was my ideal leader that I always wanted to be. I am still trying but I am not achieved even half . She always listen, fun, understands what motivate you.

My husband, family, all the wedding vendor who work with me. They always give me a big big support.

It was big thing that one young girl came from Japan by herself without knowing English and started own business.

I can not imagine that I could’ve done without their support.
