Meet Edwin Benton II | Entrepreneur, Writer, Investor and Pilot

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edwin Benton II and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edwin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I wanted to have control and be able to do things my way without having to compromise my vision or perspective. Also, most people have to work in life, if I’m going to work I want to make sure that I am getting the most return for the time that I put in. The only way that would happen is by being an entrepreneur who can solve a major problem and then be able to decide on your income.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I have businesses in healthcare, tabletop gaming, and film. In healthcare, we are a top provider in the state of California for supported living services. Our party card game “Doin’ The Most” is for sale on Amazon, Walmart.com, and The Game Chest stores in southern California. We’re releasing four additional games this year. My production company is in the final stage of development on a cutting-edge comedy show called, Temps.

I take pride in knowing that there isn’t anything on this planet that I can’t achieve, and I have the capacity to recognize and leverage the skills of others to achieve my goals. For any business I’m involved in, all participating parties must benefit; otherwise, it’s energetically a bad deal. I also make it a priority to stay humble and not be overly confident in my abilities.

What are you most proud of or excited about?

I’m excited about this new era of life that the world is transitioning to, which is abundance, advanced healthcare, and hopefully increased safety due to technological advancement. Overall, life should be easier, but unforeseen challenges with AI may cause severe challenges if not appropriately regulated.

How did you get to where you are today professionally?

I worked at the same company for 11 years, providing service to adults with disabilities, and while I was proud to make a difference in their lives, I knew I could optimize my time better. I asked for multiple raises but never received one! lol So I looked for ways to add value and partner with my employer. One day I offered a room in my home to a potential new client that needed help finding a place to stay. This solved a major problem for the client and the business and allowed me to spend more time with that person and improve his quality of life. This opened the opportunity for me to take on more and more and eventually have conversations about taking over the business. This was the second business I started. The first was a production company three months after graduating from film school. I began working as a Production Assistant on a five-day shoot. After seeing what the Director was getting paid per day, I decided to use my time to book my own shoots as a Director and make more money. I’d learn the ins and outs along the way.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

There were always challenges that made it very difficult sometimes. I dealt with obstacles by being positive, prioritizing my time, and making sure that I always had a steady source of income.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

#1) Work for yourself. Learn what you need to know about the business or industry, then do it yourself to have control and maximize your quality of life.

#2) Have at least three streams of income. Shit happens.

#3) Vision and intention are the most important. You need them to be useful.

Life is a game full of hidden cheat codes. On your journey in this game, you can discover these cheat codes to advance yourself. Like many games, there are rules; in life, some can be broken, and others cannot. Play the game wisely and know that everything that happens in your world is caused by you, consciously or subconsciously. The true objective in the game of life is to have consistent Peace and Happiness.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

My biggest accomplishment thus far is realizing the deviousness and illusionary tactics of the ego and working daily to let love dominate.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I would go for dinner at Carlitos Steakhouse in Beverly Hills. Century City mall or Rodeo to do some shopping. Must hit the beach! Redondo beach, Hermosa Beach and Hunington are my faves. It’s great to rent Beach Cruisers and ride down the strand bar hopping. It’s a must to catch a football game at Sofi Stadium or a Laker game at the Crypto.com center. A Korean Spa day would be on the list after hiking at one of the many trails around the city. I’ve done them all.
