We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophie Strupix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophie, what inspires you?
I am always inspired by the many wonders of nature. Within the grand macrocosmos there are countless microcosmos that are intelligent and interesting in their own rights and ways. What also always deeply effects me is authentic belief and passion – in an idea, a person, a career, anything. I guess I often root for underdogs too, their are living proof of this idea.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very much still in the process of becoming, but feel that I have laid a pretty solid foundation. Since I was little I always wanted to be an actress. Growing up and living in a hotel my mother was operating at the time, I always entertained and performed for the guests as well- my first tiny stage. I then attended the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and graduated from their 3 Year Conservatory Program. Going in, I knew that there will only ever be Plan A, which is pursuing acting as a career. I feel that it is by no means easy and is a bumpy road at times, but seeing incredible performances always reignites that flame and sparkle in the eyes. There is no blueprint to any career, so you have to forge your own. I hope to be able to partake in the telling of stories that deepen our relationship to nature, each other and ourselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh I love finding new spots to go to more than anything! Okay so, in NYC I would want to combine the many facets it has to offer of neighborhood cafes, art, vegan restaurants and walking around neighborhoods.

For a good morning workout I would go to ThreeForm or Sui Yoga, then grab a matcha or coffee at Interlude or Plantshed. My favorite book store is McNally Jackson and their staff always has great recommendations. To see new art Mignoni gallery is a great place to go, but my absolute favorite museum is the Guggenheim. Once there a nice walk around the Jacqueline Kennedy Reservoir is a nice place to unwind and hug some trees. Another nice scenic route and neighborhood to explore is by Brooklyn Bridge Park. For some delicious produce I love to visit the farmer’s market stand by Bodhi Tree Farm. When going out I enjoy Spicy Moon and Coletta, both delicious all vegan restaurants. For a night out I would always lean towards public records.

The most fun is always in a very well balanced mixture of relaxation, inspiration and adventure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge support system in my life is my family. They have never seized to believe in me and provide me with constant support and wisdom. I also had the joy of having many wonderful teachers in my life; in high school and at my conservatory. They have shaped my perspectives and outlooks immensely. They were the “Dead Poet’s Society” kinds of teachers to me and I wanted to stand on a table for each of them.
