Meet Giovanni Lodigiani | Composer, Producer, Director, Computer Graphic

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Lodigiani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giovanni, what do you attribute your success to?
Have continuous pleasure in doing what my professional choice requires. It’s not just fun. It’s something you need to realize as early as possible in life. Acknowledge what you really feel you don’t get tired of. Cultivate the satisfaction that the discovery of new techniques brings. Obviously also having fun. In fact, when the best ideas arrive, you can go on creating for hours in a sort of suspension of time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I realized my predilection for art when as a child I was drawing all the time even at school during lessons. Around the age of 13 I started making music which soon became my first occupation. What I hope differentiates me from the others is that I have tried not to conform to clichés and keep clear in mind the initial artistic vision I had as a boy when still free from so many influences. If there’s something I can be proud of, it’s the fact that I still have the same desire to create as when I was a boy.
The beginning wasn’t easy as it isn’t for almost anyone, but I’ve never had any major problems. I have increasingly received offers, commissions and composing jobs especially from the US. I learned many lessons along the way but especially not to procrastinate, to refine the ability to choose people and to believe more in myself.
I have had and am having many great moments such as Best US Short Award for Los Angeles 2019 contest starring Indiana Lyttle which I wrote and directed as well as scored, Instrumental Albums composed for Sony ATV, and music featured in National Geographic, HBO, Showtime, NBC, ABC, USA, Syfy, The NFL, CBS, TBS, CW, AMC, and Lifetime, to name a few.
Furthermore, my works have participated in renowned film festivals around the world, including Cannes, Berlin, Hong Kong and Venice Film Festivals among others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend Federico is Italian so if he were to come (which I doubt because he really doesn’t like planes) I would definitely take him to eat in Beverly Hills at the Italian restaurant Il Pastaio. Then since I live in Santa Monica there would be many places to visit including Topanga Canyon and Eagle Rock. Venice beach can not be missed and certainly Universal Studios since I have fun like a child in those places. Sequoia Park and the Grand Canyon are very tempting but if I had to spend an entire week I would gladly go back to Hawaii.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend, great and famous Hollywood composer Alan Silvestri who, through a strange twist of fate, I met in my Italian village. He spent beautiful words for me. My daughter Linda who is my continuous inspiration and lots of other precious people that I can’t name because the list is very long.
