Meet Ivan Magdaleno | Musician/Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Magdaleno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It was a calling really. A small voice inside my head that eventually grew into a loud one. Everything I see and hear is inspiration and generates new ideas for the creation of sound and visuals. It can drive you crazy if you aren’t able to channel it properly but once you do, it’s blissful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Today, being an active musician and creative has taken not only a significant amount of time and dedication but it’s also taken lots of love, laughter, pain and sorrow. It’s not easy to experience these emotions so intensely but they are fundamental to crafting an authentic piece of music or visuals. Overcoming the challenges of being sidetracked by these overwhelming experiences can become a full time job within itself at times but with the help of friends, family, a loving partner sprinkled with some therapy it’s been getting easier. I’ve learned one fundamental lesson in life, live authentically and do what you love with a burning unrelenting fervor. The journey is the best part of the experience. I’d like the world to know that my music and art all come from a real place within my personal human experience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting I would take them to downtown Claremont for some coffee at Iron & Kin as well as the mountains of Mt. Baldy for a scenic hike, maybe even grab a bite at the Baldy Lodge as the night falls. Some of the most interesting places to check out are bookstores, thrift stores, small music venues and unexplored corners of my hometown Pomona. The most exciting people are those who live with eccentricity, those who have a unique perspective on life and are unapologetic in their ways.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give big thanks to everyone I’ve come across who has given positive feedback and to my fellow collaborators. Big love to my band mates Selvin, Eden and Jose. Also a big shoutout to Fabian Rubio, his journey in music is ever inspiring.
