We had the good fortune of connecting with Ailén Videla Ortiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ailén, why did you pursue a creative career?
Personally, I aspired to have a career that I would be genuinely excited to wake up for every day. I wanted to immerse myself in a field that would provide endless opportunities for growth and learning. The creative industry not only offers that but also allows me to continuously push boundaries and make a positive impact through my work.

In a world where we spend a significant portion of our lives working, it is essential to find joy and purpose in what we do. Pursuing a creative career allows me to do just that. I am grateful for the opportunity to express my creativity, make a difference, and experience the fulfillment that comes with pursuing my passions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There were numerous instances where people failed to see my potential or doubted my abilities. However, I never allowed those setbacks to deter me from pursuing my dreams. Instead, I channeled those experiences into fuel for growth and learning. Achieving success in any field requires constant hard work, perseverance, and a tremendous amount of patience. It is a misconception that things come fast and easy. In reality, it is the result of consistent dedication, unwavering commitment, and a willingness to put in the effort even during the most challenging times. The path to achieving my goals and dreams may not always be easy, but I am determined to keep working hard, persevering, and seizing every opportunity that comes my way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in the city is the beach, particularly Little Dome Beach in Malibu. It’s a dog-friendly beach, which makes it a perfect place to spend quality time with my beloved canine companion. After a fun-filled time at the beach, I would definitely take my friend to Dukes Malibu for lunch. Not only does this restaurant offer delicious food, but it also provides breathtaking views of the coastline.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly, my family has played an immense role in my professional development. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me have been invaluable. They are always there to offer guidance, advice, and a listening ear, no matter the circumstances. Their constant presence and belief in my abilities have given me the confidence to pursue my dreams.

Secondly, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Nick and Caoife the owners of Eighty Eight Studios. They have been exceptional mentors who have gone above and beyond to foster my growth and success. Their dedication, expertise, and genuine care for others’ well-being have created an environment where I feel supported every step of the way. Their guidance, constructive feedback, and willingness to share their knowledge have been instrumental in shaping my career. I am grateful for their belief in my potential and the countless opportunities they have provided me to excel.
