We had the good fortune of connecting with darrell black and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi darrell, what principle do you value most?
My artwork creations are a direct reflection of myself to include my personal beliefs and values. All creatives, are story tellers utilizing all forms of expression to invoke emotion in an audience. I would like to think, my works of art are objective and honest renditions of present and future events in humanity. As the artist, I gather this information by listening to expert educators in the fields of Math, Science and Global Politics, drawing logical conclusions about the state of the human race. Armed with this knowledge, I can create artwork that is easily identifiable to future or real life events.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My interest in art started in childhood and at that young age, I was exposed to past artists for example Rodin the thinker and various other abstract artists. My parents, decorated our home with artwork copies and replicas from many of these well known painters which helped spark my imagination into the creative process. Since becoming a professional visual artist I’ve had many art exhibition but I’m most proud of my outdoor public displays for example, the New York City Times Square Art Display and having my artwork etched on the side panel of a Super dove satellite, currently orbiting in space. Getting to this point as a visual artist was fraught with many sleepless nights, fear and uncertainty, that my artist dream would never come to fruition. The beginning of my artistic journey was met with lots of false starts and empty promises from people claiming to offer help and assistance in getting my art career started, only for me to end up with unfulfilled dreams and broken promises. I overcame this adversity by reaching out to like minded visual artists for support and participating in group art exhibitions with other artists. The moral to this story is the road to success will never be easy you will need to work very hard and keep going to the bitter end.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
