We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Dry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
The meaning of success for me has altered throughout my life, I no longer define success exclusively on achievements or accomplishments in my career. I think for the longest time I was letting society tell me what “successful” means whether it was the amount of money you make, starting a company, having a high position in a company, buying a house, getting the newest Prada bag, or even finding your husband and starting a family by a certain age. Of course, those are amazing things but I realized that others definition of success doesn’t necessarily define mine. Success for me is would breakdown in four different things: happiness, growth, sharing, and consistency. Happiness- Mental health is so important, if you are struggling with your happiness and self confidence then that will effect every aspect of your life. I found happiness when I truly started valuing myself and I noticed everything around me started flourishing. I would say I’m not a naturally happy go lucky person, most people actually would describe me as “chill” but one thing that helped me lean into this was journaling, everyday taking sometimes 5-30 minutes to write down what I’m grateful for. It allowed me to see things in perspective and take a moment to see that many things I thought was bringing me happiness (likes on instagram, buying a new outfit) was all temporary. Growth- how far i’ve (I’m definitely not the same as I was at 20), where I am at currently (embracing where I’m at), and challenging myself where I want to be in 2-3 years. Sharing- This is HUGE! PSA: There is enough to go around for everyone! Being able to share your experiences with others and have others share with you is what will make you successful. Being vulnerable and sharing your story with others, all sides good and bad, is an amazing thing because you don’t know how someone can relate or how it can impact their life. Consistency- my biggest struggle! I am so ADD and have so many passions because I am a creative, this has been a challenge. I learned over time to start small and scale big. Consistency for me changes on a week to week basis and can be as simple as waking up at a certain time every morning, working out 4 times a week, drinking 3 bottles of water a day or as big as hitting a certain revenue per month in business. It’s all in perspective and realizing it’s a journey, just taking the initiative to create consistency is success!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My career started as a professional dancer but after being injured, I pivoted in the social media marketing space. After working at Flipagram and TikTok for over 2 years, I was able to learn and gain a lot of experience and really opened me up to experiences. I was able to work for a few companies like Pearpop which lead me to starting my own marketing Newav Media. We specialize in creating music campaigns for new upcoming artists that want to promote their music on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, brand campaigns, and UGC.
I am also the founder of DripDry Swim. DripDry is all all about providing the best quality and fit to bring out your inner badass while balling on a budget. Ideally, I would love to see both women and men repping our swimwear while on the beach or by pool the pool but also on a cute lunch date or even while hanging with friends on a day out. DripDry is not only a swimwear brand, we will be expanding into cover ups, loungewear, and beauty products. One of the biggest obstacles I have faced in the process to be honest I would have to say is having patience. When designing my brand I did a lot of research and so the uncertainty whether I would get a patent on the design or not was a crazy wave of emotions and anticipation. The second biggest obstacle was finding the right team and manufactures who shared the same vision. Starting DripDry from scratch it is really important to me that the fit and design is perfected.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is so hard because they’re are so many places to see and go! I’m defintly a beach girl, living on the westside so I may be a little biased. I would have to break this down by restaurants, adventures, and nightlife- this is a breakdown of some for tourists.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents are the two people I would give credit to in my success. I wouldn’t be the person I am today with them and the qualities they instilled in me since I was little.
