We had the good fortune of connecting with Clara & Marie Becker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clara & Marie, how do you think about risk?
We are convinced that any career requires passion, dedication and discipline. The decision to become a professional musician is a very difficult to take and of course it comes with taking big risks.
We chose a career that is quite unforeseeable and it involves the help and support of our family and close friends.
There are thousands of talented musicians and we all have the same goal: to devote ourselves to the passion we share for classical music and to be able to dedicate our life to music making.
Unfortunately the word risk comes rather with a negative connotation whereas we think that it also gives us a lot of motivation and shows us how hard we have to work for our dream. There is no way that a successful person never had to take risks in order to get where they wanted to be.
Of course we struggle with how unpredictable our future is but this uncertainty makes us also grow and develop as a team.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Not a lot of people know how vast the repertoire for piano duo music is. We decided to dedicate our life to this genre and perform together on one or two pianos. Being twins this was a natural decision,
since we also share a lot of other things in life.
We have had the honor to perform in many different countries around the globe and love to make new memories travelling.
Being so close can sometimes be explosive (especially in rehearsals) but it’s also wonderful to share the moments on stage and on tour. Our life is full of surprises and it never gets boring. At the same time our career is a very difficult one and one feels “up in the air” sometimes. Learning how to deal with setbacks is very important for us musicians and we need to be very flexible and improvise when things don’t always work out the way we want.
Being two that share the same passion has been wonderful- there is always someone to remind you why we are doing something and we can push / motivate each other.

We would love to invite you to learn more about our duo in this interview and on our social media and website!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To our family that always supported us in difficult moments as well as in moments of joy and always believed in our future as a piano duo
