Meet Ravenna Golden | overall artist, singer and songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ravenna Golden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ravenna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
taking a creative path was something that sort of forged itself in my life. before becoming a musician i had been in art school studying painting and graphic design. i’ve always liked pursuing things that i’m naturally good at, and music came naturally. it felt like somewhere i could see myself excelling. i felt capable and i loved to do it. so the better question would be why not, at that point.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i’m a singer and songwriter known for my solo project, ravenna golden. i’ve been making music since i was 18 alongside friends and collaborators. nothing about any creative career is easy, it takes constant growth and improvement and also constant composure to persevere in a competitive field that can make your self worth feel equated to metrics on spotify, apple music, etc..
it is a daily choice to keep faith and feel proud and optimistic towards my future as a musician. i hope i’m remembered as the bad ass innovator i am. i like to let the music and art speak for itself. i’m just trying to capture my feelings as they are and contort them into modern music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
i love to have the popes benedict at millie’s in silver lake, and to hike eaton canyon as a prelude.
the beach day is a mandatory part of the visit, and must be at least 20 miles past santa monica in the malibu direction.
for drinks, i might suggest the prince… as i’ve just moved back to that part of town. and the interior just breeds elegance.
but ultimately, time with friends is about time spent, and a good location is just a bonus.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
the friends and family that have supported me since the start of my career. and the musicians around me who continue to uplift myself and the scene as a whole. without having friends that support the vision, it’s hard to get anywhere.
