Meet amanda Tutschek | abstract artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with amanda Tutschek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi amanda, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
books. poetry. music. art. any form of a beautiful thing that someone created with their own two hands. something that will last forever and be carried on.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in large scale abstract expressionism paintings using a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil and pastel on canvas or paper. My inspiration comes from elements of my world, such as – water, trees, poetry, music, laughter, tears. The paintings I create never intend to create a recognizable image, but to convey emotions. Something we can all relate to. Creating something lasting and sharing that with the world is what I’m most excited about.
On top of this, I started my Paint and Sip company, The Painted Peach, to allow others to come into my space and learn the essentials of painting and creating. These classes are particularly popular for team building. The goal is to allow yourself to remember your childish ways and to let go of all worries. This is why I paint, and to be able to share that feeling with others, even for the short period they are here, has been my greatest joy.
Having your own business is challenging and of course I’ve faced several road bumps along the way. There have been times I wish I’d gone down that different path, which might have been the easier one. But then I remind myself that I was destined for this path and continue to push myself and in turn, grow and learn each day.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting me in Venice, we’d likely start the day by throwing some surfboards in my truck and hitting the beach, or strapping on some rollerblades and cruising on the boardwalk. Maybe play a round of golf at Penmar. Best brekky would have to be Gjusta. Best place for beers, hinanos or the Galley. I also love driving my old Mercedes up the PCH and hitting Luckys for martinis and steak 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shout out to my folks. Without them I’d be nowhere. They’ve supported every step I’ve made down the road less traveled, which truly has made all the difference. And to my 8th grade English teacher, for introducing me to Robert Frost which led me to stay true to myself and remain confident in every choice and decision that comes my way.
