We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessio Filippelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alessio, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a creative kid, I’ve always found myself being focused on my creativity as an outlet to escape from what was around me. and as an outlet to express all the colors and emotions inside of me. I needed to build something for myself where I knew I could have a safe place to share what I was going through but also turn this into my art. and to be able to share my creativity to inspire other people. My journey has not been conventional, but my ideas and hard work have taken me far. I constantly challenge myself to stay inspired and hungry to achieve more. As a gay boy, I had to work twice as hard to prove myself and pave my way against discrimination. This experience gave me the strength to emerge stronger from my darkest moments.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love so much The Hollywood hills and Griffith park… every time I am in LA, those are always my favorite spots to go to, if I need and want to feel inspired and just focus on my thoughts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would totally shoutout my best friend and partner in crime (actress, singer and producer) Kat Graham. I met Kat (Graham) when I was 13, back then I was still in the closet, I was a very insecure and shy kid that really didn’t know what he wanted for himself and his future. I was in a completely different position and situation in life when I first met, than where I am now. I always say that she saw something in me, before that I was even able to see it in myself. She gave me an opportunity and the tools, to study, to grow and to become the man I am today professionally and life, when no one else was willing to give me a chance. I owe her everything I am today and everything that I am able to do today. she’s one of the reasons why I’m blessed enough to wake up every day with a smile on my face, happy to do what I do.
