We had the good fortune of connecting with Nayendi Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nayendi, do you have a budget?
Yes I do have A Budget and learned the hard way and it’s never late .
My personal finance is very important to me as a Single Mother of 2 beautiful girls. My youngest has Autism and Speech impediment and other special needs . My youngest has helped me see things differently and grow as a mother and help other mothers and people that might be going through the same situation that I was in. My Daughters push me to save and budget and teach family’s as well all over the world and work harder to build during my success and leave a legacy for them.
The reason why I make it a lifestyle is because we are not taught how to save or budget . For years I used to live paycheck to paycheck due to lack of financial literacy and Priorities not set and I know I’m not the only one. Nothing to be ashamed of, that’s why I’m very passionate about this subject because I teach my daughter what I was not taught early and I Yes I do have A Budget and learned the hard way and it’s never late .
Let’s Be Realistic About Your Budget:
If you’ve never made a budget before, you need to start by forecasting how much money you’ll have coming in every month and how much you think you’ll be spending. The more realistic you are about each of these numbers, the more likely you’ll be to stick to your budget.
Let me give you some Tips that have helped me and others:
Knowing the Difference Between “Needs” And “Wants” In Your Budget
Particularly if money’s tight, differentiating between “needs” and “wants” can help you stay within budget. Needs come first, and if there’s money left over, you can spend on wants.
Align Your Budget with Your Goals
It is important to review your budget every month. It can help you stay on track with your finances.
In essence, a budget is a forecast of what will happen; take the time to go back and recount what actually did happen.
Ask yourself Where did you overspend?
Where did you save?
What can you do differently next month?
While it’s important to review your budget every month, you’ll also probably need to re-calculate your budget every 3-6 months, or whenever something changes dramatically in your financial life.
Last Tip Include Savings As An “Expense” In Your Budget
You will need to Decide on the amount you’d like to save each month and it is important to include it as an “expense” in your budget.
Also Recommended to Set up a separate savings account and transfer or deposit money into it every month or weekly.
Your savings can be used for short-term goals or long term (such as a vacation, college tuition or a house.
Also be used in case of an emergency, such as a car repair or medical expense these are examples.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There have been many important factors behind my success. One of the most important factors is being an African American Hispanic Women. I speak and write in Spanish and I am very proud to be a young entrepreneur in my community. I started part-time pursuing my journey on Educating on Financial Literacy while I was working full -time as a manager for a financial corporation. My past leadership and skill played a major part in my management role with this organization, but like we all know corporate America will always have its obstacles. My success has helped me make an impact in many communities and families break the cycle.
It has not been Easy but all worth it and I always remain a student and open to learning every day.
I want the world to know that I’m a fan of if you help from the heart the blessings will automatically come to your life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will take them to the beach to have a good time, nothing like homemade food . will also take them for adventures at the Zoo, Aquariums and a nice club to relax their mind and have drinks. I’m more of a home person who goes out a little but I will make sure they enjoy themselves and experience a memorable vacation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
