Meet Vikki Beretta | Actor and Comedian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vikki Beretta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vikki, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I have a habit of feeling the fear but doing it anyway. It may sound cliche, but it’s true and I also do my best to follow through on doing things I say I will do, especially if I tell others I’m going to do it. Otherwise, I don’t really have any daily habitual things; like, I don’t work out the same time every day, I don’t have a regular morning routine, I don’t even pray. I do say affirmations when I feel I need them but overall, my habits are probably more like mental checks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m really proud of myself for jumping into things before I truly felt ready, even without really knowing anyone in most scenes and learning hands on. Doing things head on like that has made me learn faster and given me the confidence I have now. I would say making connections with people is what has helped me most professionally, I have been lucky to meet such talented and gifted people who are willing to share a bit of what they know with me. I used to want to try to do things myself but I’ve learned that support is so important not just for productivity but for well being. When it comes to being a creative in this industry, people need to know that there is room for all of us as long as we are living authentically. There’s many copy cats but if you are true to yourself, there is no such thing as competition and so that is why we should raise each other up instead of tear each other down.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would probably find some outdoor morning yoga in the city to do with them, then we’d either find a drag brunch to watch or go eat lunch at my favorite restaurant called Greens that is also in the city. Then we could go to a day party either at the midway, hotel flamingo or the end up depending on the vibe. Afterwards, we could go get dinner at either a hot pot place or my other favorite restaurant called Wildseed. And finally, we could wind down with watching some stand up at my favorite venue The Punch Line or go for a walk around like Dolores park and meet peoples dogs. I think that all could be done in like one day or spread out in a couple days. In terms of physical activities theres also the biggest rock climbing place ever in Oakland we could check out called Pacific Pipe which is pretty cool. I’d also love to take them to Santa Cruz for the boardwalk if they’ve never been and spend a day there. Theres also AxeVentures in San Jose that would be pretty neat to check out with a friend. And of course there’s the First Fridays in San Jose that is very nostalgic for me I’d love to go to with a friend visiting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I’d like to shoutout my longest lasting relationship with my significant other for being there every step of the way, my acting class for giving me a place to practice, the many people in the comedy scene for being so supportive and encouraging, and even all the little connections I’ve made along the way even if we may not be in touch any longer, the memories still live in my heart.
