We had the good fortune of connecting with Esther Camacho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Esther, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process to my business was a little tricky because I had to overcome my own self doubt and a lot of bumps down the road. I started working at a fast food place to provide for my daughter and I which took a lot of quality time away from her. My friend at the time introduced me to the beauty world in which I did not know a single thing about. She would take me as an assistant on the weekends and I would earn more money for the day than at my previous job. This led to a lot of conflict in schedules between both jobs but I knew that my previous job wasn’t for me. So I had to make a decision between settling for a job I didn’t love or chasing an uncertain road.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart as a latina makeup artist is my tenacity, the want to be more, know more and do more. I am proud of how far I have made it in the beauty industry and all the opportunities that have been presented to me. Motivating myself day to day to be someone my kids look up to has given me the strength to be where I am today. It definitely was not easy, there were many difficult days that I thought about giving up in pursuing my dream of what I am now. The biggest lesson I have learned in my career has been to stay consistent, whether I was opening my own makeup store, selling lashes, or doing lives during the pandemic right after I broke my ankle and was not able to works. I would like the world to know how much I love my career and the passion with which I do my work has been based on perseverance, errors, and sacrifices that this industry as well as life requires.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my Older Sister Mari, Thank you for all the countless nights you took care of alba while I chased after my dream without you I wouldn’t have been able to start my career. Since I was little you have always looked out for me and I can’t thank you enough.
