We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Alcaraz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am born and raised in SoCal, my parents are of Mexican and Salvadorian decent. I think my need to do hard work comes from my father who worked in the avocado fields and continued to seek higher paying jobs, ultimately working as a trucker. He was able to buy a home and get my sisters and I through school. My passion for helping others comes from my mother who has always been into holistic living and using food as medicine. Chiropractic embraces both physical work and holistic living because we believe that removing subluxations (restrictions of the joint) allows the body to heal its self through the nervous system.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an associate Chiropractor in Glendale, CA. The type of Chiropractic I do is different than others because I do full body adjustments. These include extremity adjustments but also jaw and many more. I take a great deal of time getting to know the patients history, I do a full Chiropractic exam, and X-rays to then show the patient their path to healing. Patient plans are created on a case by case bases because I don’t follow a cookie cutter or one size fits all type of treatment. Every plan is custom to the patient and their needs. I take great pride in the community we serve and plan on doing it for a long time to come. Starting a business is a challenge of a whole other nature but I overcame those challenges with an awesome team. Delegating has become a key factor in this because one person cant’t do it all, even if you really want to. This allows me to focus on patients, which is what truly brings me joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is full of things to do, a week long trip would include hiking in the mornings, museums in the afternoons, and dinner with a view in the evenings. Griffith Park, Veterans Park and Eaton Canyon, are some of my favorite places to hike. Visiting the Broad or the Getty Villa are my top choices for a fun activity with a friend. Some of my favorite restaurants with a great view are, The Odyssey, The Castaway, and, The Rooftop. I would also spend a day at Universals Studios, this is probably because my best friends and I love Harry Potter and I could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Three Broom Sticks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dr. Claire O’Neill is my mentor and teacher although I often call her sensei or Jedi master. I am where I am today because of her encouragement. I also have to give credit to my amazing family and Fiancé Semyon who were a tremendous help while I studied for my doctoral degree. Lastly, I would like to credit the show Bones because the protagonist was a very strong female in the field o forensic anthropology. This is where my love of forensics comes from and the type of Chiropractic that I gravitate to most is that of finding the root cause of the problem and then solving it.
