Meet Patti Handy | Financial Coach | Certified Executive Coach | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patti Handy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patti, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew I wanted to make a bigger impact on the world, especially when it came to serving divorced, widowed and single women. The regret of not taking the leap of faith was greater than the regret of leaving a job with stable income and benefits.
What should our readers know about your business?
My journey into Financial Coaching was started by a seed planted many years ago when I went through my divorce. Although I was the person that managed our money in my marriage, my divorce set me back on so many levels, including financially.
When I came out of the fog, I knew that I wanted to somehow help women who are doing life alone with becoming comfortable with money… from talking about money, to managing and investing. It wasn’t until two decades later, and a lot of great life and work experience, was I able to take the leap and leave my role as a Financial Advisor. I had so many conversations with women who struggled with their confidence around money, I knew it was time to finally fulfill my purpose.
This is when my signature program, ‘Minding Her Money” was born.
What sets me apart is the combination of life experience, divorced and being a single mom, and my work experience in the financial industry. Between my work as a Mortgage Advisor and a Financial Advisor, I’ve had hundreds of conversations with folks around their money situation.
I love what I do and hope to leave a legacy that reflects my love and desire to improve the lives of others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is filled with so many choices for fun, it would be hard to pick just a few. I would probably start in Santa Barbara, visiting the Zoo, Beach and food spots. I would include Disneyland if they’ve never been, along with Hollywood. Everybody needs to see Hollywood at least once in their lives!
Pasadena is a great spot as well, so many fun restaurants and shops. And, let’s not forget a day of pampering! I would book massages, facials and maybe mani/pedi if time permitted.
Needless to say, we’d visit the best restaurants and take in the local beaches.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many, however my parents and my sisters are my biggest cheerleaders and support system. Their love and support have been priceless.
