We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Andrew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlyn, how do you think about risk?
I believe in high risk, high reward because this mentality is essential for driving innovation and developing new approaches in market disruption and overcoming industry challenges. Risk is essential in my life and career because it challenges me to grow and evolve into the person I want to be. Each day I move closer to becoming a better version of myself because I am actively doing the work necessary to produce better results. Surrounding myself with people who remind me of the payoff and why risk-taking is worth it has reframed the way I consider risks.
Safety is important so I recommend taking risks with caution. Something I’ve repeatedly told others is that my mental health is not for sale. I do my best to think through the impact of my decisions in the next 10 minutes, 10 months and 10 years. If not taking the risk will lead to any form of regret, I am all for the risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional modeling career has taken off since the start in 2019. Something that sets me apart as a model is my ability to approach challenges in innovative ways and my dedication to continuous improvement. I have trained with professionals in LA and NY, modeled internationally and have been on several covers and been featured in a multitude of publications. I want to continue expanding my modeling career and continue working with brands, improving my skills and securing high-quality modeling opportunities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA/OC is a great place to visit and there is a lot to do and something I especially love about living in California is the nearly perfect weather year-round because I enjoy being outdoors. Because I love the ocean, a beach day with water activities would be first on my list. Here are some of my favorite adventures: hiking to the top of the Hollywood sign–the view is stunning and this is a landmark you can’t experience anywhere else, Long Beach Aquarium unless conditions are right to go snorkeling/scuba diving, catch an Angels/Dodgers game, soak in some culture with cuisines from around the world, grab some tacos at an authentic spot and a fresh juice. Schedule in at least one full beach day and layer up the sunscreen. Be sure to enjoy some live music if you can, local artists are amazing. For something casual, I like brunch at Vibe and something more upscale, I love Mastro’s Ocean Club in Crystal Cove or Mozambique Rooftop Restaurant in Laguna. Other iconic spots I’ve taken guests to visit include Venice Beach, the Getty, Disneyland and Legoland. Malibu and some fresh sushi from Nobu and a dinner or Bruch at Roger’s Gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! I would like to give some credit to my friend, Brigette Shvonne who has been an outstanding mentor throughout my modeling career. She is a hustler and is loyal, consistent and honest and available when I need some coaching. She has motivated me through tough times to keep going and take care of myself. There are many people who have impacted my life and I am enriched by all of them in different ways.
