We had the good fortune of connecting with Kemmii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kemmii, how do you think about risk?
Risk is necessary for growth. I’m a huge learner of experience and most experiences that involved benefit on the other end, included risk. My goals of becoming an amazing performing artist will not come by running from every obstacle that faces me. I have not much to lose and everything to gain.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist. I create music, lyrics, and experiences that I love to share through the art of performance. I’ve been a performer since I was a toddler, more specifically in dance rather than showcasing my vocal ability. Therefore, my love for performing grows year after year, exploring the many things I can do. I’m most excited about my next musical projects coming up in the next year, I’ve been crafting amazing work to present my supporters! Getting to this place professionally was humbling, I’ve trained many years to perform, and rehearsal rooms feel nothing like the stage. More recently, I’ve been rehearsing myself which takes much more self awareness and reflection than having an instructor. I’ve learned to give myself grace with my weaknesses, while preparing them to become strengths. In addition, practice makes improvement and I’m seeing the fruits of my labor bear more everyday. I am a hardworking creative, that puts my talents through the pressure to become a diamond.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York so I’ll give a quick run down for an NYC Tour! My favorite restaurant to eat is an Italian restaurant in Little Italy called “Paesano”. Their pesto is incredible! To drink with a little grub on the side I’d head to El Coco near 23rd street in Lower Midtown Manhattan. I haven’t seen the Jay-Z exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum yet; but, I’m ecstatic to go this week so I’d also recommend a visit there to read up on the culture’s legend! Lastly, to hang I’d recommend Washington Square Park for an absurd day of spontaneity or a day tour of Harlem and all of the wonderful culture there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my best friend Corinth Moulterie. In our adulting years, we find more and more that we need and depend on each other immensely. Since high school we have supported each others goals, and seeing our dreams becoming attainable together is powerful. He’s a rock when I feel the waves of life hitting me, and in return I support his goals and advise his needs. We take pride in supporting each other, knowing that the drive we possess for our own careers drives each other to do better. Shoutout to a real one! Thank you for holding me down bestie.
