Meet Sruthi Dhulipala | Entertainment PR Manager & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sruthi Dhulipala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sruthi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see risk as a catalyst for growth in both my life and career.
I’ve learned that calculated risks often lead to the most significant rewards. For instance, I made a bold move by transitioning from engineering to the world of publicity, and that leap paid off. It involved moving to another continent (from India to the US) to pursue my passion for promoting Hollywood titles and advocating for South Asian representation in the industry. It was a gamble, no doubt, but one that I’m incredibly grateful for. Fast forward six years, and I’ve had the privilege of working with major studios, iconic franchises, and some of the world’s most beloved titles—all because I was willing to embrace the uncertainty.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an Entertainment PR Manager, spearheading PR strategies and campaigns for brands, production studios, and talent in the entertainment industry. Notable clients in my portfolio include the Bollywood film “Thank You For Coming,” Max’s “Scavengers Reign,” and prominent brands like MPC, CBS, Disney, Mikros Animation, and more. From promoting the visual effects of Jordan Peele’s Nope to leading the animation publicity for Mikros Animation for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and promoting the launch of DropOut TV’s Dungeons and Drag Queens, my work over the last few years has been diverse and exciting!
But it’s safe to say that my career path has been far from conventional, particularly given my background. I began my PR journey in the United States as a Master’s student at Boston University. From then on, navigating a new country, overcoming cultural obstacles, and constantly upskilling myself have all been challenges that helped me grow in this country and in the field.
I take pride in breaking the mold, especially as an advocate for Indian culture and representation in the creative space within the United States. My ultimate goal is to empower and help promote South Asians who are looking to make their mark in the entertainment industry, and that goal makes me want to get up and go to work every day!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE the Manhattan Beach – it’s my spot to go to when I’m happy, when I want to clear my head, or to celebrate little joys. It’s so peaceful out there. I also enjoy visiting the Griffith Observatory regularly, and there’s so much to learn and explore there. If I were to show a friend around in LA, I’d definitely take them to catch one of the planetarium shows at Griffith!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have immense gratitude to the incredible PR and industry professionals and mentors I’ve had the privilege of meeting during my journey in the US over the past few years. In particular, I’d like to recognize Andrea Miloro and Ashley Wean from Mikros Animation. They have been unwavering supporters and mentors who wholeheartedly believed in my journey, work, and passion for the field. I also want to send a shoutout to my wonderful LA community of South Asian friends. They’ve played an invaluable role in keeping me grounded, providing support, and making me feel like I truly belong here!
