We had the good fortune of connecting with Mara Marini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mara, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?

Growing up in the heart of Winnipeg, amidst its friendly and vibrant community, I was fortunate to have parents who not only embraced humor but also wholeheartedly believed in my dreams. Their unwavering support and encouragement provided the solid foundation upon which I built my aspirations.

From the days of storytelling around the kitchen table to family gatherings filled with laughter, my upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of narrative and the joy of making people smile. It’s in those moments that I discovered the magic of storytelling and the ability to connect with others through humor.

Now, as I navigate the bustling streets of Los Angeles and pursue my career as an actress, I carry with me the lessons of resilience and determination instilled by my hometown. Winnipeg’s warm spirit and my parents’ humor and support have not only shaped me as an artist but continue to inspire me to reach for the stars in Hollywood.

Every audition, every role, and every step in this journey is a tribute to the values and wonderful memories of my hometown and the unwavering support of my incredible parents. Their belief in me remains the guiding star in this dazzling city of dreams.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

What sets me apart is the journey I’ve embarked on to reach where I am today as an actress. It wasn’t an easy path, but it’s one I’ve tread with unwavering determination and an unshakable belief in my dreams. The road has been paved with many challenges, but each obstacle served as a stepping stone to higher heights.

The key to my professional journey has been relentless hustle and hard work. I’ve poured countless hours into honing my craft, working on and attending auditions, and persevering through rejection. Every ‘no’ only fueled my determination to hear that ‘yes,’ and I’ve learned that success often requires the courage to keep going when the road gets tough.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. Patience, resilience, and the ability to adapt have been my greatest allies. I’ve discovered the power of self-belief and the importance of staying true to my artistic vision. Surrounding myself with a supportive network of mentors and fellow artists has also been instrumental in my growth.

What I want the world to know about me is that I am not just an actress, but a testament to the fact that with passion, hard work, and an unwavering spirit, dreams can become a reality. My story is one of perseverance, and I hope it serves as inspiration to others pursuing their own dreams. I am proud of the journey I’ve taken, and I’m excited to continue writing new chapters in my career, proving that anything is possible with dedication and a burning desire to succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we would hike Runyon Canyon with my cute little two pound doglebrity, @teacupcoconut. Then we would walk down to my faaaavourite restaurant, El Compadre, for tacos and the best chips and salsa in Southern California along with their signature flaming margs.

One day would be heading to the beach for sure (faves are El Matador in Malibu or heading down to the OC – Huntington, Newport or Laguna). Another day we would do The Getty and/or The Getty Villa. Love to hike, so would probably sprinkle in another Griffith or Malibu hike. And if it’s hot out, popping into The Roosevelt or The London to lay by the pool and have lunch.

The rest of the evenings would involve dinners and some of my other fave places (Mother Wolf, Ka’Teen, Sushiya, etc) with pop-ins at other fave bars (The Belmont is like our Cheers – always see friends there, Desert 5 is super fun, The Fleur Room for drinks and WeHo to dance).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A heartfelt shoutout to my incredible family and friends – the unwavering pillars of support who have always stood by my side, nurturing and fueling my dreams and keeping me grounded when I need it most. Their love and encouragement means everything to me.
