Meet Michael John Fuller | Actor, Producer, and Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael John Fuller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
As I am a big fantasy nerd, haha, my end goal would be to star as a lead or regular, in a fantasy TV series.
By the end of my career, I would love to have had regular work in a project (or projects) that I am passionate about. Projects that not just entertain, but also make people think, grow, help understand themselves, and educate.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Method Actor, I definitely lean more towards drama as opposed to comedy. However, I love doing both, as it allows me to explore different aspects of myself.
I think what I have learned, is that I feel the most successful when I am in control of my own career, doing multiple things (acting, writing, producing, directing, etc.), instead of simply relying on auditions. Creating my own work is highly fulfilling – more so than would have ever imagined.
I am most proud of the writing I am doing, as well as the connections I have met along the way. I have recently written a dramatic short film, which is a period piece that takes place in WW2. I am also in the process of wrapping up writing a drama that takes place in the middle ages. Really excited about those two projects. 🙂
I do not take my wins or successes for granted, and I will always remember the people who I have worked with and who have helped me out along the way. The lesson I have learned is that karma does exist, and to always put my best foot forward (and to help others whenever possible). Those are the same people who will remember me along the way.
I think the best brand statement I have is: “Providing mastery in the art of acting, while always staying true to myself. Striving to new heights as I live, walk, and breath my craft – with dedication, discipline, perseverance, and commitment.” That is a pretty good summary of who I am, and what I bring with me on any project.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooooooooooo…that is easy. From west to east:
Day 1 – Day trip to the Reagan Library, and cruising around my old neighborhoods in Westlake Village/Agoura.
Day 2 – Day trip to Malibu for some surfing (which I have not done in years, doah!) and surf lessons. Followed by a small hike in the Zuma Canyon Trailhead and dinner at The Sunset Restaurant. Finishing up with some shopping at Cross Creek/Lumber Yard and cruising around my old neighborhoods there.
Day 3 – Day trip to Universal Studios.
Day 4 – Play tour guide with a trip to Hollywood and check out all the tourist venues. A movie at the Chinese Theatre, followed by dinner at Yamashiro. And yet again, cruising around my old neighborhoods, haha.
Day 5 – Day trip to Disneyland.
Day 6 & 7 – Two days on a spiritual retreat in Sedona, AZ. Meditation, hiking, white water rafting, spa life. Dinner at Chocolatree, and of course, a trip to the Grand Canyon.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh wow. There have been exceptional people across the board who have helped me along the way in this journey. My first shoutout would be to Nikolina Christine Page. Her determination for success was always something I admired, and she re-kindled a lot of the drive I use to have when I first started out. Others I would love to credit are Valorie Hubbard, Joseph Pearlman, Annie Chang, David Strasberg, Anna Strasberg, Marc Marno, and Hedy Sontag – all who inspired and educated me not just in my craft, but also on the business side as well.
