We had the good fortune of connecting with Armineh Hovanesian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Armineh, how has your pespective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Living in the time of COVID-19 has made a tremendous impact on my work-life balance. Since I am forced to work from home, I tend to work longer hours than usual and my “life” balance is a bit out of whack! I have been trying to find an equilibrium so I can get my life in order and allocate time for my photography. Another obstacle in front me is the fact that I cannot go out and photograph. Being stuck indoors has its limitations but I am trying very hard to find a balance until we are all safe and cleared to venture outside.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography is a hobby for me. As a self taught photographer I am very proud of my accomplishments. I started with minimal experience, not knowing what I was doing and within a couple of years, I managed to participate in exhibitions in different countries and started gathering various accolades. The main lesson I have learned is that photography is not about the camera and the kind of gear one possesses. Photography is about the way of seeing and how that “seeing” is translated and captured in a frame. I consider myself a lifelong student of photography and aim to learn more and polish my skills. There are millions of photographers in the world and each and every person is different. On social media, I have noticed that most people tend to mimic a certain style and are only interested in their numbers of followers and “likes” on their accounts. Then, there are the “outsiders” who aim to be different and unique and try to capture interesting and intriguing moments, sometimes seldom seen by others. I belong to the latter group.
