Meet Emily Weiser | HairColorist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Weiser and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to work in the Beauty Industry because it just made the most sense. My mom took me to nearly every single one of her hair appointments growing up so I fell in love with the culture/ fragrances / chemicals/ /transformations etc.
My dad made custom furniture and worked with his hands and I thought that was also just the coolest thing. Working behind the chair allows me to create with my hands in a salon environment that feels nostalgic and familiar.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a hairstylist for 11 years now. I’ve worked with and learned from Some really interesting stylists along the way ; some whose work I really admired and some who really challenged me. That may sound harsh but I allowed everyone I worked under to be my mirror. I wanted to be great and I wanted my work to be admired especially because this industry is so saturated. We often get the “you do hair all day how fun” … it’s much more complicated than that. I worked my ass off for very little money and spent thousands on my education. I knew I wanted to express myself as a “colorist” so I spent nights painting doll heads and experimented on friends and family and even paying clients. My journey is far from over … but biggest lesson I learned was to stick with it no matter how hard it got and continue many people leave this industry when it gets tough.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to my parents Trissa/Paul / and my bonus mom Joy. Cliche’ , but I owe it all to them.
