Meet Dr Toshina Crockett-Espinoza | Doctor of Chiropractic and functional medicine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr Toshina Crockett-Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr Toshina, what inspires you?
I am inspired by nature. Every single person has a vital life force inside of them. Some call it innate intelligence, some call it homeostasis. Our bodies want to stable.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out in pharmacology. I knew I wanted to be in healthcare since a child. When I became pregnant and had severe back pain- I realized a pharmaceutical route wasn’t going to work out. I had to take a natural approach to my pain. I was healed through chiropractic care. Ever since I knew I wanted to help others. Since I have a background in allopathic medicine and alternative medicine I am able to better treat my patients. I know there are needs for both.
I have taken courses in almost every type of chiropractic technique to better serve my patients. I have taken course in sacro-occipital techniques, gonstead, activator, Thompson, Webster courses and pediatrics. I want to be able to help anyone who walks through my door.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am such a homebody, so I would love to stay local in my hometown of whittier. If I were hosting a friend from out of town and they were up for it- I would start the morning off with a hike up to TurnBull canyon. The view is amazing. HSi Lai temple is the largest Buddhist temple in California and can be seen from the hike. The hike is about a 4 mile loop.
Next we would walk down the street to uptown Whittier’s historic area and eat at one of the many great breakfast spots. More than likely it would be Auntie’s cafe. I would order biscuits and gravy. Then we would walk around the shops and I would spew out all the historical landmarks as we pass. We would stop at Zens cafe for a tea pick-me-up. I’d order the golden milk.
After that we would head over to my office for a quick spinal decompression and adjustment.
Then we would pickup my kids from school and head on over to Newbreed academy for some jujitsu!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank all my patients for trusting me with their healthcare. I want to give a special shout out to my husband for not doubting my ability to change my life path so late in the game. I always need to thank my boys for grounding me.
