We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasia Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Because it’s my purpose, it’s what I love to do, it’s my passion and every morning when I wake up it’s one of the first things on my mind. When I’m not in that space I’m not the best version of myself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a gospel recording artist and Minister of Music from Los Angeles, Ca. My style of gospel music is more inspirational mainstream. I think what sets me apart is being able to reach all ages with my music oppose to just one specific audience. I’m so proud of the experiences and opportunities afforded to me through the art of singing. I was able to travel the country (Europe, Japan) and I was even able to perform at the White House with a choir from Chicago. I’m super excited about the music that’s going to be produced with my family (The Woods Family). My husband and I have 6 amazing children (Genesis, Righteous, Sovereign, Asayah, Wisdom and Honor) four girls and two boys. The girls are amazing singers and musicians called (The Woods Sisters) and the boys; well, they’re still very young, we’re anticipating what God has in store for them. Dedication, practice, consistency, support, patience, finances, management, networking, professionalism and family is how I got to where and who I am today. It was very hard and frustrating most times However, My love and passion for the art of music motivated me to keep going. Taking a step back when something didn’t go according to plan and revisiting the idea with a more refreshed and innovative approach was something that I’ve mastered over the years and for the most part it always worked out better than the initial plan. I’ve learned to put Jesus Christ at the forefront of everything, my family and projects. It works out better that way. I’d love for the world to know that if you’re looking for encouragement, inspiration, a word, great music and some good ole, flat foot singing follow Simply_Tasia, The Woods Family and The Woods Sisters on YouTube and all social media platforms. I love the lord, He is everything to me, He has giving me the gift of singing so I vowed to use it all for his glory.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d check out the SoFi stadium in Inglewood, Ca. If you want some good food and music I’d go to the District by the GS on Crenshaw. I love to eat so check out Ruth‘s Chris Steak House and The Warehouse in Marina Del Rey, Ca,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband Lewis Woods and our six children Genesis, Righteous, Sovereign, Asayah, Wisdom and Honor. Without them I really couldn’t do what I do because they are why I do what I do. My sibling, best friends, supporters and church family for sewing into my life spiritually, emotionally and financially.
