We had the good fortune of connecting with Tianka McAdory and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tianka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to start my own business as an independent film maker because I’ve always enjoyed the craft and the work that goes into bringing vision and creativity to life on the screen or on the stage. I wasn’t the type of woman to wait for opportunities from others so I decided to create those opportunities for myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
McAdory Productions LLC is a small film production company based in Los Angeles, California founded in 2021. We specialize in writing, producing, directing, videography, and photography. Whats sets us apart from other film companies is that we are independent film makers who are young and vibrant team players who can turn any idea or vision into something great on film even with a small budget. We make magic! What sets me apart from other independent film makers is that I am easy to work with, I’m highly organized and professional, I don’t mind listening to ideas from my team mates that may help improve the project, and I strive for perfection no matter what it may cost me. I got to where I am professionally by education and experience. It is not easy so you have to have tough skin to work in this industry and it has to be apart of you, meaning you have to love the craft regardless of the challenges you face. If you are in it for money or fame you are in this industry for the wrong reasons. I’ve over come challenges in this industry by staying calm and sensible in difficult situations, I use prayer for clarity and vision, and being amongst others who fully support me and want to see me win. The lessons I’ve learned along the way would be don’t hire your friends, don’t believe what people say but watch what they do and that will tell you the truth about who they are. Hire experts it will make your job easier and less stressful. If they can’t deliver what they said they could let them go right away, keeping them around could sabotage your film. Disassociate with any negative seeds amongst your team because that negativity can spread like cancer. Trust your intuition energy is a real thing. Take breaks to sit back and analyze where you are and where you want to be. Above all else believe in your self even when things seem like they are falling apart. The best remedy is self care, eating healthy, exercising, and meditation. I am excited about how great my first film project is coming together and how well everyone collaborates. It is such good feeling seeing this vision of creativity come to life it is fulfilling knowing that the work is getting done it inspires me every morning to keep going. I would like the world to know that this brand will expand beyond its boundaries and it will become international brand catering to the arts in different aspects of the world. We are continuously growing, reshaping, redefining what film is and we go above and beyond all limits.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my bestie to earth Cafe in beverly hills to have a nice breakfast, coffee or tea, then we would go bike riding in Playa Del Rey beach walking bike trail. Next we would grab lunch at Baja Cantina on Washington Blvd in Marina del Rey. The next day we’ll head to melrose to do some shopping, dinning, and end our day at movies. I would also take my bestie to Korean Spa for some pampering and have lunch at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. I’d also like to take my bestie visiting the laugh factory in Hollywood for some good jokes and we’ll party away the day in West Hollywood. Next we’ll get up early to do some hiking in Runyon Canyon catch some views and gossip along the trails. We’ll then grab something to eat at Simply Salad and do some shopping at black on the block. We will spend one full day at Universal Studios. The next day we’ll go to a sip and paint event and catch dinner at Perch in downtown Los Angeles. The next day we’ll head to the beach and do some water activities and enjoy the rest of the day sipping mimosa at Tony P’s over looking the Marina. The next day we will get up early to take a horse back tour in Mulholland Drive and then we’ll have a picnic at the park. We will also spend a day at the Getty Museum, another day at the Long Beach Aquarium. Then we’ll take a trip up to San Diego to go to the San Diego zoo and spend the day there. We’ll go to the nails salon to get matching manicures and pedicures and go wine tasting at Malibu wines and beer garden. Before she goes home we’ll head to Santa Pier for some fun then we’ll go to the Pent House on Santa Monica Blvd for Happy Hour and watch the sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank God for giving me the strength, wisdom, and perseverance through it all despite the obstacles that I face in this industry it is not easy but something in me keeps giving me the strength to fight. My mother has been my rock and main supporter even when this was just a dream in my head. She has always supported me with her positive energy and love. She has been by my side through it all helping any way that she can. I would like to recognize all my film and acting teachers at Santa Monica College who has pushed me above all limits, educated me on the craft and given me professional training. I would like to give credit to The Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theatre for the experience in Stage Management, Prop Mastery, and Set Design. I would like to thank my mentor Jon Lovitz who I’ve had the pleasure to talk to in the beginning of my career who I’ve expressed my ideas and goals to and he has given me encouragement and knowledge from his experiences in the industry which has helped guide me through this journey. I can’t thank him enough for taking the time out to sit with me. I also want to thank my team who has carried me along the way with insight and expertise. I would not have gotten this far with out these key players in my life and everything that I am is because of them.
