We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Bradford lll and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joseph, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business because growing up we were homeless in Kansas City Missouri and I didn’t want to complain about all of the issues I see. I decided to put actions behind the hardship.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the president and founder of a nonprofit organization named B.A.R.E Truth, Inc. We do a lot of advocacy for the homeless population, we have a feeding program, and we also provide mentorship services to the youth. This was not an easy business to start because I never intended to create a business, I just wanted to help the people. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri to a young mother. Our house house caught on fire when I was twelve and that forced us into homelessness. In 2018 I formed B.A.R.E. Truth Inc after about four years of feeding people at night on the streets. Now, we have successfully housed over 200 people over the last five years. We feed about 25,000 people a year. My goal with this was just to make this world a better place. We faced our own homelessness back when I was a kid, so I dedicated my life to changing that reality for so many others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were in town, then I would take them to Tatsu. It’s a Ramen joint that I frequently attend on the west side. I would also take them up into the Malibu hills for a nice hike and then finish it off at Lobos Boxing gym where I am a member in Hollywood. To finish it off we might hang around at the Grove because there’s tons of shopping in eateries with a
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother ( Bellzora Bradford ). She is an incredible woman and she never gave up on her kids. No matter what we went through, she was always there and she gave us her all.
