We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, why did you pursue a creative career?
I know it sounds cliche, but I don’t think I had a choice, being an actor and a writer is just part of who I am. As an actor there is no better feeling than being on stage in front of an audience and as a writer nothing is more special than hearing the words you have written go from the page to the stage.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We live in a world where when we think about what success means for actors and performers we immediately think Broadway or Hollywood. What I have learnt and what I love about the arts is that, that statement is simply not true. There are so many artists, writers, actors and creatives doing important and brilliant work who never reach that level of “success” but that in no way takes away from the importance of their work. I find myself in that category and find myself surrounded by the most talented and gifted individuals. Acting and writing like anything else comes down to hard work and persistence, I have lived in NYC for over ten years and work every single day on my craft, forging relationships and working towards my goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the village, when I first moved here I studied at HB Studios on Bank Street and was lucky enough to spend time the area exploring everything it has to offer. For me a perfect day in the NYC is spending the day walking the streets of the West Village, Lunch at The Butchers Daughter followed my dinner at Urban Kitchen and then a show at one of the many great downtown theatres, Cherry Lane Theatre and the Players Theatre being two favourites. Ending the night with a night cap at the legendary White Horse Tavern,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shout out to everyone who has helped me along the way. All the theatre companies, theatres, fellow actors and playwrights.
