The values and principles that matter

We’ve always believed that forming a strategy is impossible until you’re clear on what your values and principles are. Without values and principles to guide you, making decisions can seem impossibly difficult. Given how important setting values and principles is to decision making we asked folks we admire to tell us about the values or principles that matter most to them.

Caring! I’m someone who cares a lot. I care about the details, I care about the process, I care about the people involved, I care about the execution and the results. I can’t imagine going through my career with a DGAF attitude. I’m not a perfect publicist, but my team and my clients can always count on me to care a lot about the work we’re doing. Read more>>

The value that I find the most essential in my work and my personal life is the importance of human relationships. In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General reported that the United States is facing a loneliness and isolation epidemic, which after facing a period of social isolation in the global pandemic shows the importance of human connection and relationships. In my work as a clinical social worker I have found the most significant aspect of success and positive outcomes in any therapeutic experience is the therapeutic relationship. Throughout my own life, I have personally experienced the most impactful change and healing through meaningful and authentic relationships. I believe that the power of holding a safe space for others to feel seen and heard is one of the most rewarding opportunities in life and to be able to intertwine this value in my work and in my personal relationships has been such a gift. The city shoulders an immense load as the economic and political center of the country. This load is also shared by the people living in it. Beijing-ren are proud, hardworking, and warmhearted people, while they can also be hubristic, unforgiving, and numb to suffering in the same breath.
