Meet Natasha Weems , DNP, AGPCNP-BC | Nurse Practitioner and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Weems , DNP, AGPCNP-BC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking, in my perspective, is the very essence of growth and innovation. Launching a business and pivoting into media, for instance, was a significant leap that extended beyond personal ambition to foster community dialogue on pressing issues. My involvement with nonprofit events, particularly for children in Africa during LA Fashion Week, was a venture into the unknown, driven by a passion for social impact. Similarly, engaging in political and medical media, like interviewing mayoral candidates and discussing healthcare legislation, was a calculated risk, balancing the intricacies of public discourse with the pursuit of informed, impactful conversations. Through my social media and the publication of ‘The Unbreakable Women,’ I’ve embraced the vulnerability that comes with public advocacy, aiming to inspire dialogue around healthcare disparities, entrepreneurship, and resilience. Entering the competitive realms of healthcare and beauty, especially as an underrepresented African-American provider, was fraught with challenges but underscored by a commitment to diversity and equitable representation. Each of these steps, marked by uncertainty and the potential for failure, was taken with a clear vision and purpose, illustrating that strategic risk-taking is not just about confronting the unknown, but about seizing the opportunities it holds for meaningful change and personal growth.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m Dr. Natasha Weems, and I’ve just launched my first book, “Unbreakable Woman: Embracing Resilience in Every Season,” a project I’m incredibly proud of. As a Nurse Practitioner and advocate for global health and mental wellness, my journey extends beyond writing to initiatives like food distribution and feeding the homeless, reflecting my deep commitment to community health. With over two decades in healthcare, my experiences fuel my mission to empower women and contribute positively to our communities.
My journey to where I am today, particularly with my focus on Women Empowerment Events and the Care First Med Spa, is built on my steadfast dedication and profound passion for my work. My solid educational background laid the foundation, while networking, consistency, and diligent effort propelled me forward. When faced with obstacles, my faith has been my compass, guiding me to walk by faith, not by sight, and to rely on discernment, ensuring I remain true to my principles without being swayed by external influences.
My brand and story are fueled by ambition and a clear sense of purpose, guiding me on a journey to empower and inspire women from inner cities and across the globe. It’s about encouraging them to pursue their dreams with faith and dedication, committed to forging a promising future. This mission is at the heart of everything I do, from my work in Women Empowerment Events to the nurturing environment of Care First Med Spa. It’s a call to action for every woman to embrace her potential and stride confidently towards her aspirations. I am by organization to join me and support my platform so I can support others who need my impact.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week-long visit with my best friend, we’d kick off with an Indie Night Film Festival evening, celebrating indie films and networking. We’d dine at Rooftop by JG in Beverly Hills, enjoy beach runs for relaxation, and savor a Malibu dinner at Nobu. We’d mix leisure with networking at Neil Collins’ Breaking Hits LA mixer, offering unique industry insights.
Our itinerary includes a red carpet event for networking, a scenic drive to Temecula to explore wineries like Wilson’s Creek and Altisima, and a leisurely trip to Palm Springs to unwind. This blend of entertainment, dining, and scenic tours offers a memorable experience. I would also check the Billboard Inc. platform to see if they have any charity events/mixer that are pure awesomeness.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jumping into the Shoutout series, I’m keen to acknowledge the incredible individuals who’ve significantly contributed to my journey and success. It’s pivotal to recognize that our achievements are often supported by the steadfast guidance, mentorship, and encouragement of those around us.
In this spirit, I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Adeola Odunowo, Allen Shay, Nathalie Beasenael, chef Key Locke, Reem from Ayla Events, Dae One, and Phil Westbrook. Their steadfast support and efforts in welcoming me and facilitating invaluable networking opportunities have been instrumental in my transition and subsequent success in California. Their roles in my story are not just as connectors but as pillars of support, guiding me through this new chapter with their insights and encouragement.
Their contributions underscore the essence of community and the profound impact of collective support in personal and professional growth. It’s essential to shine a light on such remarkable individuals who contribute to our stories, often behind the scenes, yet play a critical role in our paths to success.
